Ouch.
On the front page of ESPN... he's wearing a Boston Celtics jersey.
An all-time great player, arguably top 20 all time... but the 3rd best player in his HOF induction class. Is it the greatest HOF group in history?
[note: there's gonna be a lot of kobe stuff at the induction as well. to be fair, i've never seen more than like 20 seconds of any other induction ceremony... during normal times.]

ESPN has it as the second greatest, but I think it's pretty clear cut the best class of all-time. They had Jordan, Robinson, Stockton as their greatest by a weird championships added metric. Jordan is the best of the 6 players, but Duncan and Kobe are 2/3 and I personally think Robinson/Garnett is basically a wash with Stockton well behind all of them. Also it may be unpopular, but I really don't think KG is "ours" when it comes to his all-time greatness. He was a great player for us who also happened to achieve all of his team success after he left us. In a game that heavily values titles I can understand why people push the Celtics angle. With that established though ESPN obviously puts up the Celtics jersey so they can push a Celtic and a Laker entering at the same time. Even if that ends up being a double fuck you to MN sports fans. I'm happy he's in though and wish at some point down the line the bad blood can get resolved so he can be properly represented in our organization and our building as he is the foundation that built this team.

Your comment about John Stockton hurt me deeply.

You could make an argument that KGs peak years were just as good as Timmy or Kobe's peak years.
Having said that he is behind them because of team success .

This was fun to watch again. Poor Sam with that injury, such a shame.

Rewatching that KIngs game made me remember just how much Gary Trent sucked, and Mark Madsen too. How did they even play?

Gary Trent was on his last legs. He'd only play 6 more MINUTES in his career (the next series).
As for Mark Madsen. This remains my "favorite" NBA statistic.
In his final TWO seasons, he combined to shoot 3 - 16 fg... (19%)... on free throws.
And, 6 - 33 from the field (18%)... despite putting his three point shooting days behind him (ahem, ahem) and only shooting dunks and layups and hooks.
He made just over $5M for his efforts. And then another $2.8M to not play for the Clippers the season after that.
Being tall can be good for your wallet.

I still haven't forgiven John Stockton or Karl Malone for being assholes on the court.

Wait. John Stockton was a small white guy from Utah. I think we have to call it "crafty." It's in the rulebook and everything.
Personally, I haven't forgiven Malone for his off-the-court criminal and deadbeat dad behavior...
