Trade Karl-Anthony Towns.

Repeat rant of mine... but I think it warrants its own thread:
Ok. I don't really think he should be traded. He's insanely talented with more room to get better. He could be a Top 10 player. BUT...
This is a perimeter league. We've discussed it before... but it's getting alarming at this point.
The NBA is making it part of its mission to take big men out of the game. What they allow defensively vs. big men 5 feet from the hoop vs. what they DON'T allow 40 feet from the hoop is laughable. Towns (and other bigs) is pushed/shoved/held and everything else. But yet, he's getting multiple offensive calls every other game.
I don't see how it's a winning formula long term to build around a big in today's league.
Consider the plight of MN and NOP. Both built around 2 of the top 5 big men in the game. And neither is going to sniff .500 on the season. Neither has won anything in a combined 10 years in the league.
[note: i'm arguably the biggest fan of pgs out here... i have no love for big guys. but i do acknowledge they've been an integral part of the nba for its entirety. it's a shame how irrelevant they're becoming even with some talented guys out there.]

My belief is that you can't win with KAT as your number 1 option. As a number 2 though....very intriguing. I've been a big proponent of getting Kemba for a while now. It could blow up in our face but so what at this point. Let's roll the dice and live a little.

Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic beg to differ. Both are inarguably the best players and one has his team at #4 in the East and the other is #2 in the West. Heck, I think LaMarcus Aldridge is San Antonio's best player and look at how they've been reeling off wins over the last few weeks.
I do agree you need a dynamic perimeter threat that can draw in extra defenders and create shots for himself and others (although Jokic may beg to differ on this point too). All of our perimeter guys come up short. But it doesn't HAVE to be your best player.
By the way, who is our 2nd best player? If we were winning a bunch of games, I bet that would be a relatively easy question to answer.
KAT needs help.....Just like Love needed help.....just like KG needed help.

When the Wolves could have had Jamal Murray or a Buddy Hield, they chose Kris Dunn. When they could have kept Zach LaVine over Andrew Wiggins, they kept the 6'8 wing with no heart. Minnesota has needed that perimeter player for almost 20 years and they still don't have it. Maybe they never get it.

Getting rid of your best player never works. The goal is to get better players, not worse players. I know that might seem obvious. lol

This is the problem with Trading Towns. You are unlikely to get the value back that you want to get by trading him. To me the reason I don't want to trade Towns is that it looks like he might actually be a pretty good defensive player or has a chance to be.
Also I'll assume from this thread that Abe would love to keep Derrick Rose around for the next couple years. :)

Towns seems like he's pretty dominant. He's not the best center. Maybe top 5 but he does so mAny things well. I like the roster we have surrounding him. We don't have a strong #2 guy but we have a good amount of #3's. A good coach can make this a competitive playoff team.

I think we have plenty of talent. Maybe not chammpionship level talent but enought to build around and have a chance to get there. My target would be CJ McCollum.

Just imagine if Wiggins was near All Star level. This team would be 3-5 seed. Not out of the playoffs.
As expected he came out huge in Ryans first game as coach and went back to mediocre Wiggins again. It kind of sucks when your other max paid player is shooting career lows. D:

Your lack of faith in "The Process" disturbs me.
