I'm looking forward to Cam's initial draft analysis that he mentioned in another thread. In the meantime, I thought I'd open a draft thread that Cam and others can use if they'd like to discuss ideas for the Wolves.

The good news is that OKC won today's tie-breaker, which means the Wolves will have the 20th rather than the 21st pick. I actually thought we'd have the 23rd pick. So I'm pretty happy. A good front office can do well with the 20th pick. The roster got a lot older and more expensive last summer. I'd like to see our front office infuse this organization with a talented young player on the NBA's extremely team-friendly rookie scale contract this summer.

I have't looked closely as the upcoming draft yet, so I don't have any ideas other than wanting us to draft the most talented player available. I know the Wolves are about to begin their first playoff series in 14 years, but let the draft discussion begin!

I don't recognize most of the names that are currently hovering around 20. I don't want to be a homer, but Gary Trent Jr looks like a solid possibility at 20. He's a good shooter and has good size. I think Duke kind of held him back a bit just because of how stacked that team was and the need for him to stretch the floor. At the end of the day I think his floor is a really good 3pt shooter which is something we need and his ceiling could be more if given a bigger role with the ball in his hands off the bench.

Whatever we do, please get a player that is strong, tough, and works his tail off, preferably an upperclassman that has played for someone like Frank Martin.

No more weak-legged, skinny guys that can't defend or hold their ground!

Getting a pick at #20 is a very nice outcome. Who would have guess that a few months ago? Let's get a worthwhile player and then get one at #48 also. Yeah I'm geedy.

The second round grades are a little puzzling to me. He's a volume 40% 3pt shooter with legitimate size to be a 2 in the NBA. That's the kind of role player that should have a lot more value in this NBA.

I was a bit surprised also but it's early so who knows. It feels like a really lazy comparison but is he the next Rashad Vaughn? It doesn't seem like he is now a guy in very high demand. Does Gary Trent JR pass or play D? Is he just a guy that looks to score? He only shot 43% on 2 point shots.

There are some interesting and in some cases very familiar names in the 2nd round from the former Draftexpress guys who are now on ESPN. Can you imagine a guy with Mo Wagner's skillset say 10 years ago? He would he gushed about as a possible true C with shooting ability. Now I'd guess teams worry he isn't going to be athletic enough. I'll be interested in his measurements also and I'd be interested if he was a guy you could pick in the 2nd round even though we don't need more bigs. He seems to play hard and can shoot.
