Yeah plus he didn't even play that game. Guy is an idiot.

I read Jon K's report earlier today on Butler not flying back with the team and the fact that he told told Thibodeau earlier this summer that he didn't want to return here and wasn't going to re-sign next summer.
As the article you posted suggests, these revelations could hurt Butler's trade value. All the more reason not to drag this out. Sometimes it makes sense to hold out and send signals that you might not deal a player. But this is a very different situation that calls for aggressive, sustained two-way communicationand engagement with all possible suitors to get the best deal possible without trying to drag out the clock. The clocks is not the Wolves friend in this situation.
Butler has acted like a jerk, but this mess is mainly on Thibodeau. He shouldn't have traded for Butler in the first place. But more importantly, he should have dealt with the situation before it erupted as it has here in the 11th hour.

It's not complicated. Butler is a would-be thug and an asshole. Get what you an for him and move on.

I wonder if he decided to quit on the team after 3 quarters and decided it wasn't worth it.

Oh that's right. My memory is going. He quit when we needed him most. Remember when Moss walked out with 5 seconds left in a game and the world was up in arms. This sounds way worse.

Butler comes across as a serious, hard working, team first guy. But deep down he's a quitter.
If this is true then it makes Thibs look like even more of an idiot (if that's even possible). Butlers should have been moved before the draft.....

I agree. My bottom line is this. Even fans posting on this message board - Cool, myself and some others -- were calling for the Wolves to trade Butler leading up to the draft. We came to that conclusion based on the limited information available at the time in the public domain. Thibodeau obviously had to know a lot more about the internal problems than we knew. As it turns out, with the information Thibodeau and Layden had, it was gross malfeasance on their part not to trade Butler back then.
