A year later and it looks like Butler may be leaving after this season. You happy with the trade. Yes or No.

Those questions aren't very nuanced. We would have been even further from a championship with Lavine, Dunn and Markannen. Who knows what else would have went wrong in that scenario.

Win a championship? LMAO, have you forgotten the team you're a fan of?

I'm with Jim on this one.

There are too many questions on either path. I think this is a question better answered a few months from now.

I still think it was the right move, im just disappointed with butler the person. I expected him to come in and be the kg type leader that the pups needed; a teacher, a friend, a mentor. Instead, he looks at the pups as rivals rather than as kids he can help mold.

If butler isn't the leader, thibs should be. But he isn't either. He just enables butler to do has he pleases. The butler~kat feud seems real. If kat bolts, then this trade becomes a disaster.

Easy answer - Dunn, Lavine, and whoever.

That's where I'm at too. And imagine the Wolves with a really good front office, trading down from the 7th pick, taking Donovan Mitchell and picking up some additional assets along the way. Of course, with a really good front office, we'd have a head coach suited for the modern NBA as well.

I was on the fence when the deal was made, but I now think it was a bad one for the Wolves over the long haul. But you're right that it becomes a disaster if KAT leaves. The fact that KAT hasn't signed his extension yet is certainly troubling. He must be pretty unhappy and at least thinking about not signing because every day that goes by without him signing the extension poses the risk of a freak accident that costs him well over $100 million.

Close only counts with hand grenades and horseshoe. A first round playoff exit isn't success if it doesn't lead t a Championship down the road.

At the time I hated the trade and it still looks like a bad one when we lose Butler for nothing after this season.

Lavine, Markkenan and Dunn weren't getting us a championship down the road. We would have been maxed out with no options to retool and a worse team.

Now if Butler leaves we will still have cap space to work with rather than having been forced to give Lavine a contract he didn't deserve.
