Interesting read

http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/presents19367606/how-lonzo-ball-father-lavar-ball-captured-our-attention

It will be interesting how this story unfolds. It all really starts Tuesday. Do the Lakers keep their pick? Then the draft? Will they have a shot at Ball and if so pick him? What happens if Ball struggles in Summer League? What if he struggles in as a rookie?

If Lonzo is average this will all die down. If he is a star this will go on for years. I don't think I can remember a kid having this much pressure on him since LeBron was named the King.

By all reports, the kid is really good despite the funky shot.

Lavar Ball is annoying as anybody I can remember... but his gimmick is working. The worst part is the next aspiring parent/business partner will have the up the ante even more to get attention. Actually, the worst part is not those with kids with actual NBA superstar potential... it's all the parents at the high school/AAU/grade school level who will see these clowns on tv and raise their obnoxiousness game...

I think it would be interesting having Lonzo end up with the Mavs. Can you see Lavar and Cuban getting in war of ego?

He is really good, although I think defensively he's probably going to get abused his first couple of years. Luckily he has some physical gifts in terms of his length that once he understands the ins and outs of NBA ball will allow him to be adequate. But I think opposing PGs are going to go after him in a big way next year....

I have decided that I will not click on any article that has anything to do with Lavar Ball. It plays right into his strategy.

And while I think Lonzo is a very good prospect, I think teams will put a target on his back next year, not in a violent/hard foul kind of way, but just in terms of giving some extra juice when defending him or singling him out in isolation.

I agree with this. He is going to be a marked man. Probably in the likes that Yao was when he came into the league. I am not sure he can handle the type of athletes in the NBA. It will be interesting.

Yes. Agreed.

I grew frustrated with why he was getting so much attention at first... but then I realized I'm not his target audience. I don't get upset when The Voice or Dancing with the Stars get a ton of media play. Or, the Kardashians.

I just tune them all out. I can do the same thing with Lavar Ball pretty easily.

I'm so sick of that guy's idiotic comments. And am tired of espn and others doing articles/interviews with him.

I'm not sure why some say Lavar's plan is working? I can't stand him and I hope his brand fails along with the majority of others. I won't be supporting any BBB stuff because of him.
Also, I thought Lonzo seemed like a good kid, but I now hope he isn't a star, just so maybe his annoying dad will shut up.

Exactly. He's a troll....click bait....hype man....huckster......and every time he gets his name somewhere, good or bad, he relishes it. Unfortunately the media, including ESPN, love controversy and hyperbole, so they play right into his hands. Thus I choose not to partake.

As for Lonzo, I'm with you. Unfortunately, he has two other younger brothers that are also pretty talented. We'll be hearing from Lavar Ball for a loooooong time.
