I agree 100% with this article. One of the better wolves articles I've read on this site.

Pretty good article. If you could count on Gallo for 75 games he would be my favorite free agent target for the Wolves. Even with his durability concerns i still like him. I'd target him and Jamychal Green and be willing to overpay for both.

Good analysis.
The thing is, yes it'd be great to get another big who can shoot outside, but even more importantly, whatever big we get this summer needs to be able to defend well. The problem right now is that without Gorgui next to Towns, we're a notably worse defensive team (I still can't figure out why Towns doesn't have a bigger defensive impact than G at this point). Check the stats on this, it's disturbing.
In terms of the draft, this is why Markkanen would concern me. Getting a stretch 4 who can't defend would make things worse. Isaac, I just don't know about. Maybe he'll pan out, but I really don't know and I have a tough time seeing him deal with some of the big quick 4s in this league. I really like Anunoby's defense, but I don't trust his outside shot. So I don't really see an ideal future 4 in this draft, at least not a sure thing.
What if the assumption the article is making is wrong, though? The idea it lays out is that Towns is the ideal 5 in the future and there's a 3 and D stretch 4 out there who would fit perfectly next to him. That may be, but what if Towns actually is that stretch 4 of the future and what we really need to find is a better 5 than Gorgui? I mean, he needs to improve defensively, but skill wise, he's there. If that's the case, then a guy like Anigbogu or Jonathan Jeanne (crazy rim protection, actually shows signs of an outside shot) might be the kind of big we're looking for?
I just don't even know anymore.

With you on Gallo. He's Belly with talent.

It's a good article on Dieng and it's nice it needed up showing how much value he has I was expecting it to have a more nagative spin.
What it also highlights is just how valuable Belly (if healthy and playing like he did defensively much of the year) can be to this team or any team. You can put him out there and you are playing big and small at the same time. He is the type of guy you are looking for to play that position even if he is at best a fringe starter that's still plenty valuable. The Wolves backup situation this year was Rush and Bazz and while I think both guys are worthwhile NBA players neither was good enough to jump up those positions as the author states it. They need to add another player there home fully one with more length or strength plus some more defensive chops at SF to play small as a PF. It's also possible Wiggins could have developed more to be able to do that more but nobody is counting on that right now including me. I think Luc would be a terrific fit here he was a small ball PF before that was the thing it is now. I wanted Quincy Acy last summer.

Belly is a good defender. Gallo is a just bad one. Belly plays like a role player, Gallo is just a "star' wannabe.

Gallo's calling card is his shooting not his defense. But he's far from a bad defender.

The talent level isn't the same but I think Gallo and Melo have similar problems when it comes to the other stuff like defense. They get hurt for stretches basically every year and are playing banged up and it hurts the other parts of their game. That's not letting either guy off the hook or anything but neither guy sucks or only scores either. I would have a hard time paying a bunch of money for Gallo though with his injury history. It's a shame he can't stay healthy.
