Warriors/Wolves GDT

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

Looking forward to watching this one live, although it's tough to imagine a win in this one...oddsmakers have GS as a 15 1/2 point favorite. Then again, Draymond Green is out and he leads the team in both assists and rebounds, and we seemed to play the Warriors close in every game last year, so maybe we can be competitive tonight. Got to guard the perimeter closely though, because Curry and Durant are both shooting over 40% on threes and Klay Thompson is better than his 35% rate this year. How do you defend these guys? At least they have no inside threat that requires any double teaming.

Does Thibs play Tyus a lot again? Does Payne get some court time on the back end of a BTB? Do Zach, Wig and Belly all discover their lost 3-point shots. Let's hope so...

I'm not even sure how to judge success in a game like this, where we are struggling and on the second night of a back-to-back on the road. This is a schedule loss if there ever was one...

I'd love to punk the Warrior fans and basically just play only our 2nd and 3rd units tonight. Get our kids some rest and don't let the fans enjoy beating a full-strength Wolves team.

Keep in mind GS also played last night, q...although they didn't have to work as hard as we did. Thibs used his bench a lot last night too...I think only Wiggins logged big minutes. But I get your point...this will be a difficult game to evaluate. Part of me wants to measure the Wolves' success tonight against the relative success they had against the Warriors last season, but the addition of Durant makes that an unfair comparison...even with Green out. I guess I just want to see them play hard and at least be competitive and cover the enormous spread.

The addition of Durant makes the whole switching strategy dangerous now. It's one thing for someone like Rubio or Dieng to get switched onto Harrison Barnes.....totally different if it's Kevin Durant. He can exploit mis-matches better than anyone else on that team. Now they are pretty much unstoppable.

Yeah, good point. Mitchell's finest moments last year were his defensive schemes against GS, but you're right...Durant changes the whole equation. Our boys gotta be prepared to fight through screens tonight, I think.

Well, I don't think they're unstoppable or unbeatable. You just have to execute better than they do, which is no easy task. The way to beat Golden State is to defend the three as well as you can (obviously), but get to the line a lot for easy points and get them in foul trouble, which we can do, and win the points in the paint margin by a good bit. They have very little rim protection with this current team. We need a hungry, attacking Wiggins and a Towns who gets plenty of post touches. There isn't a single player on that roster that I feel like can consistently guard KAT on the block.

Good point about their lack of an inside presence. KAT's inside game keeps improving...I thought his footwork last night was extraordinary. We need to get the ball to him in a good position, and he should be able to put up 25. And yes, I want to see Wig slashing to the basket a lot tonight...14-15 free throw attempts would be nice.

Ouch...12 points for GS in less than 3 minutes. Zach really struggling with Klay. At least Wig made his first two jumpers.
