The league is full of good point guards, so it's difficult to find a great fit for him. Here are a few ideas, in addition to the Kings:

Orlando Magic: I'm not sure how committed they are to Elfrid Payton. If they're not, then Rubio could be the kind of facilitator they haven't had in some time ... as long as they stop playing Aaron Gordon at the 3 and prioritize floor spacing.

New Orleans Pelicans: Jrue Holiday will be a free agent this summer, and it's unclear what he intends to do. If the Pelicans are scared of losing him, then Rubio and Anthony Davis seems like a nice combination.

Dallas Mavericks: Rubio is only two years older than Harrison Barnes, and the Mavericks do not have a point guard of the future. He's the kind of guy that can make Dirk Nowitzki's life easier in the short-term and help the Mavericks build something new when Nowitzki retires.

New York Knicks: To say the Knicks' point guard situation is in flux would be an understatement. Rubio seems like the kind of guy Phil Jackson would appreciate because of his basketball IQ, but I'm not sure that Jackson has the right assets to get a deal done.
Atlanta Hawks: Mike Budenholzer has been referred to as a "shooting zealot," so I hesitated to list them here. Rubio's passing would fit in well, though.

Chicago Bulls: Just kidding. The last thing they need is another non-shooter. They do need a Rajon Rondo replacement, though.

I honestly a hesitant to trade him. I think he would be a great backup PG.

I would rather trade Dunn then Rubio, but I doubt Dunn has any value at this point. We need to see if Dunn can play alongside our young trio. I doubt Dunn is the answer at PG, but we need to find out sooner rather than later.

You forgot Brooklyn Nets. Lin is only good to sell tickets to Asian crowd.

I think he's a serviceable NBA player.

In fact, I think he was poised to have a pretty solid statistical season for a bad team... if healthy.

Yes, he's serviceable. But he's been long enough in the NBA and was mostly a good bench player or stop gap starter. And he's got injury issues to boot. I'd keep him around for ticket sales, but would look for a better player at the same time.

I didn't realize he was hurt because honestly I lost track where he was playing these days. No wonder the Nets have dropped to the bottom of the league as he is a legit rotation guard. I was going to say I would take like Lin here maybe in a deal including Rubio then I looked at his contract...and um well I forgot he was getting that much money. It's not an outrageous sum but it gives me pause. He fits what Woj said they were looking for but my guess is they might want a cheaper player that was also ready to play right now. He has missed a few games since becoming a full time NBA player but 11 games in the most he has missed in any season till this year.

Small sample size... but Per 36 this season...

20 / 8 / 47% fg.

If the Wolves trade Rubio, and I'd say it's 80% they do, I think the best thing they can do is trade him for a an expiring or a non-point guard role player. We don't need a "bridge guard" at this point. Just let Dunn start and A) see if he can improve rapidly or B) find out he is not the answer, and let the team flounder the rest of the season and end up with another top pick in a point guard heavy draft. Also Tyus gets more minutes too.

The idea that we are trading Rubio to make room for Dunn to ascend to the position in the future right now is ludicrous. Dunn has not yet shown he can be a viable backup point guard yet. But I'd rather use the second half of the season finding out if Dunn can improve rather than bringing in some mediocre stop-gap that won't move the needle one way or the other.

I think the expiring is the way to go. Use that money for another point or a legit free agent coupled with Pek's money. How about Derrick Rose?

Derrick Rose? Why?
