I was hoping it was a little less but it's still not a huge amount more than Rubio and we got a first rounder...which is pretty much guaranteed to come to us now in 2018.

Yeah.. just hard to be excited about this whole swap right now, although a 1st rounder next year is nice. I guess we'll see how free agency pans out.

Would you rather have Ricky and 4 million in cap space or Teague and a 1st round pick next year when we previously would not have had one? I think option 2 is a nice haul.

Hopefully Wolves can finish in front of OKC anyway

We now have adequate spacing, plenty of cap room to start working on our bench, and a first round pick next year not too shabby

That's the way I'm looking at it, Kahns. It will be very interesting to see what we do with the remaining roughly $18 million in cap space.

From CBS Sports, which has ranked Teague really low in their list of free agents. I've put in bold the major reason I don't like this signing. We had a horrible defense last year. Adding Butler should help. Losing Rubio and replacing him with Teague should hurt. He also shoots only 35% from 3, while guys like Hill and Lowry have both shot north of 40% and are considered better defenders.

Ugh. I don't like this very much.

Teague is 29, and just isn't seen as a difference-maker anymore. He posted career highs in assists per 100 possessions, none of his shooting numbers were concerning, but his defense slipped badly. He's this low on account of what is expected to be a fairly massive deal. If you get him for under $20 million as a starter, or under $18 for a backup, it's good value. Anything over that is an overpay you'll be hurting from at the end of his contract.

It feels like Thibs is building a team he is ill-equipped to coach. On top of that, he's so damn worried about the offense when he should be worried about the fact that so many feet have to be up Andrew Wiggins' ass to get him to play with a motor.

Lowry is a legitimate two-way star.

Yes, he'd cost more, but if we could add a two-way star, who fits all the major needs for us (3 point shooting, defense, tenacity), why not try to do that?

For the record, I taught Lowry as a TA for one history class at Villanova, and he plagiarized an essay on Voltaire's Candide. Plagiarism is an unforgivable sin for a teacher, but I'd still sign him. He's that good. :)
