Hey we like drafted this guy. Anyone have any additional thoughts? There has been a few posts about him in various threads but Butler coming here and looming FA has overshadowed the pick. I like him (don't love him) but as Schmitz from DX said on a recent podcast he is basically a blank slate but he meant that mostly in a good way.

He's as good a project as any we could have taken at that spot. Very efficient. Very good on the PnR from what I remember of the draft coverage. He's 2-3 years away, but he has the tools to be a good player. I would expect him to spend most of this year in the G League. The highest praised comp I heard was Bosh which is an extreme long shot, but a guy can dream that he develops into the perfect fit for us right lol?

I think this is Thibs' version of Flip's LaVine pick a few years ago. It's a bit of a home run swing because while he didn't do anything eye popping from a stats perspective, you see some things in the way he moves, the way he catches the ball, his soft touch around the hoop, etc. that gives the impression of a high upside type of pick.
Bigger is better, especially if you have big guys that can guard small guys. Patton apparently has quick feet and the ability to stay with smaller guys on the perimeter. Yet on the other end, he has some slick post moves and the ability to score around the rim. We'll see. I like the fact that he can watch and learn behind KAT, Dieng, and Aldrich....no need to rush anything with this kid.

I am surprised there are not more comments on him. I am torn on this pick. I didn't do much looking at players later in the draft this year. Anyone see him play? Did he have any memorable games?

You can go see a couple of his better games on Youtube highlights. Obviously they don't show any of the lowlights, so you may come away feeling like we got the best prospect in the draft!
One thing we do know is that his coach said he improved at a really, really fast rate, suggesting that this kid still has a lot of room to get better. That's a good thing for sure. Could take 2-3 years though.....

I like the idea of this.

I was at this game against Nebraska although ai missed the first few minutes. Spoiler alert...when he picks up his 4th foul he doesn't come back in so if you just want to see Patton play it's under an hour of your time espcially if you do any fast forwarding.

He really does have a rare combo of size, athleticism and touch. The one factor I absolutely love is his ability to run like a deer on the break. If he is able to wrap his mind around the intelligence of the position, speed and physicality, of course gain muscle, I believe he could be a monster for this team.

He reminds me of payne in terms of skill set. Now I hope he has a lot higher IQ

After watching that game this morning and reading this post it made me think Patton might be like Clint Capela but can shoot? I'd just be happy with Capela espcially now he isn't a compete liability at the FT line. That's still a optimistic outlook but I think there are some similarities to them.
