Sounds like Pelicans are/have waived him. I have always liked this guy. He is certainly someone I would put a waiver claim on. Would love to have him for a cheap deal the next few seasons. Would certainly strengthen our bench play. I trust him a heck of a lot more than Belly.

They are waiving him because he broke his thumb - out 4-6 weeks. I get what you are saying over the longer run with him, but I'm hoping we can land a bigger fish at that hybrid forward spot.

Didn't realize he was out that long. That being said, I still look to add both him and Terrance Jones. Although, it says something that Jones was dumped despite fairly strong on-court production. I know he has always had some issues....maybe larger than most realize? We have several guys that could be cut and not missed. Payne and Hill being the most likely. I think adding control to these types of guys going into next offseason is smart.

If you cut Hill loose right now you would have to pay his team option salary for next year so that's not happening.

Payne...I've wondered for a while if they see something in the guy. He has gotten minutes over Hill this year and would probably cost very little. His latest medical issue could be a problem or he could recover and not be a problem. Because he is in recovery they may be less likely to be interested in cutting him idk.

Casspi-I've always liked him and a I would like to claim him but if I was going to choose between him and Lance I would pick Lance. Cassi is sort of the bigger combo bench forward that would be nice on this team and he shoots the 3 well although not all that frequently.

Jones is a weird deal but letting him go made sense because they had to bring in a perimeter player and they were pretty loaded with bigs. Who were they going to let go instead? It was reported they wanted also to let him have a chance at some better opportunities. I'd be interested in him though too.

It seems like the waiver/buyout game has increased the last couple years. I wonder if the NBA will consider a waiver deadline like in baseball. I guess right now there is not enough time for that between the trade deadline and March 1st when teams have to have guys signed for being playoff eligible.
