There's eight million reasons why KG isn't retiring. Personally, I don't blame him. Why walk away from that type of money to do the same or less than he did this year? 38 games played at less than 15 MPG? Let's see if he even pumps out 20 games next year.

The only reason I could see it happening is the loss of Flip.
If he is still on the team next year does he do a Kobe farewell tour?

All-world mentorship is clearly worth $8M. Right?

If Pek can sit in a suit all season collecting a hefty paycheck, I can't knock KG who will probably give us more minutes, more mentorship at a discount to Pek.

Guaranteed contracts in the NBA drive me nuts. If a player is unable to perform he should be able to be cut from the roster and his salary paid with some form of insurance. Tying up cap space and a roster spot with a guy like Pek is not fair to the team or its fans...

At some point, the insurance stuff will kick in, right?
How long does the guy have to sit out to make that happen? (I might have asked this before... but I forgot the answer.)
