If he didn't even practice, it's highly unlikely he plays. That frankly sucks, as after going 0-2 to start, we could use all hands on deck for the next couple of games.
We'll see what kind of kid gloves Conley gets from the refs with Dunn guarding him. My fear is that he gets into foul trouble early and then Tyus Jones or JL3 is stuck checking Conley for stretches.

Yeah but is Rubio injury prone?
Honestly the way Rubio was schooled by Conley in the first game I'm happy Dunn is getting a shot.

Wolves announced Rubio has a sprained elbow and is out indefinitely. It seems likely he is gonna miss more than a couple games.
As much as I love Rubio I hope Dunn plays well and it's the start of the Dunn era. I don't know if I feel confident in that happening but I want to see it happen. I think Dunn has played about as well as so expected him to or a bit better especially considering how he struggled in preseason. At this point to some extent I don't care how the team ends up I am excited for now to see Dunn get a shot.

I'll add some Rubio comments here.
It's just 2 games but I felt in both games while Rubio was Rubio he didn't give us enough in those games. Was he why we lost? I wouldn't say that although if he had played better sure they were both close games but he wasn't the reason we lost. I am a Rubio guy I just expect more from him.
It's 2 games and I have faith in a healthy Rubio playing well over the entire season I started to wonder if he is going to end up being a Jose Calderon with different strengths and weaknesses. Calderon was a good player but flawed. He was a poor defender and played things pretty safe although ran the team pretty well and was a good shooter his flaws only got worse as he aged. Rubio has become a terrific defender can really play PG but is a poor scorer and a very poor shooter. Both guys had some good and bad things when it came to playing the game. I liked both players and it's always good to have a god defender but having a guy that's not a scorer and shooter is pretty tough. Again when both guys were at the top of their game and healthy both are good players that helped their team but inbuilt had flaws that were/are pretty significant.
There has been talk about Rubio taking less to stay with this team. I could see that in a few scenarios.
Dunn isn't good enough to be the starting PG and Rubio is the guy at that position going forward.
Dunn and/or Rubio become good enough outside shooters that they can play together. This is the case regardless of who starts at PG.
I can't see Rubio taking less and the team keeping him if.
Dunn takes over the starting PG position and Rubio is basically Rubio of right now with no real improvement as a shooter.
I don't know what will happen but unless Rubio is starting the other scenarios don't seem all that likely he would take less to hang around and play as a backup. It doesn't make sense for him the guy is a legit although flawed somewhat young starting PG on a attractive contract. The Wolves can't put the financial resources towards that type of player especially if Tyus is still around who COULD be a nice backup PG here even if he gets a decent chunk of money or they could sign another backup likely for fairly cheap. In addition the Wolves might be able to move Rubio for another player or asset. It's another interesting thing to watch with this team that has plenty of interesting storylines. I'm trying to just sit back and let things play out.

Let things play out.
But should Dunn take off... I don't know if Rubio at $16M for 16 mpg is the best value.

In that scenario the answer is pretty simple. It isn't. Like you said let things play out but let's say we get 25 games in and it's clear Dunn is the starting PG of the now and future you might as well look and see if there are any good deals for Rubio at that time. There might not be anything good enough to move him but I would see if those teams that called earlier are ready to pony up something worthwhile for him. I really don't know what to expect when it comes to a return for Rubio. The PG position is a bit odd to gauge because of its depth of that position in the league. You also have guys like MCW, Lawson and Brandon Jennings or even Derrick Rose that could play (or other stuff) themselves in or out of the equation as starting PGs plus maybe a guy or 2 we haven't yet considered that will play well when they get a shot.

If Dunn shows he's the real deal I sign and trade Ricky in the off-season for Noel. Philly has too many bigs. We need more defense in the frontcourt. Get Noel at about 4/40 or 4/48 and have the frontcourt solidified for the next 4 years. Use the small bump in cap space with what we already have to solidify the wing behind Zach and Wiggins with hopefully a solid 3@D guy and roll with:
Dunn/Tyus
Lavine/FA wing/Rush
Wiggins/FA wing
Dieng/Noel
Towns/Aldrich in spot minutes.

If we're discussing Bjelica or Muhammad making $10M per year... a healthy Noel isn't going to be available for that price.

Off-court problems, injury issues and not quite achieving his defensive potential all drive his price down. He's a risk for anyone to sign including us so he's not getting big money this off season.
