Better than I thought

Sheesh. This place has turned into debbie downer central. I must be the only guy that's in the opposite corner. Four games in equals a 5% of the season already played. We're .500. I'm good with that Keep in mind:

* Wiggins hasn't even started firing on all cylinders yet. I'm pretty confident he's not going to shoot 29% from the field all year.

* Towns should get better each week as he gains experience.

* I'd call Bjelica "Professor Missed Shots" as of the 1st four games. But I'd assume he (like Wiggins) will start getting more shots to drop. His rebounding has been better than I expected.

My biggest concern coming into the year was defense. So far (5% of games played) our Drating is 99.0 which is the best in Franchise history. Granted....I don't expect that to hold up. But still - it is what it is as of this moment. Did people expect them to be better than .500 after 4 games with a franchise best Drating? I didn't. Especially after the shitty preseason.

As far as the line ups/minutes/subs....that will all work it self out. I agree some of the things Sam has done do not see ideal. But at the end of the day - I'm good with the results so far. Any other optimists out there?

Carlos - I think the defense is for real. It will only get better when we start hitting our shots is my feeling. It is hard to defend when you are missing shots. We seem to still be solid without shots falling. Next step for me with this team is to work the offense and get and take good looks. That will show we are figuring out how to play and then from there it will be a matter of time before we are making them.

I'm with you in the optimist corner, Anthony, even though last night's game against the Heat dampened my enthusiasm a little. But I guess I remain optimistic because I think the terrific defense we have been playing is more sustainable than the horrible shooting. We're not going to shoot 35% many more nights, but the improved defense represents a change in philosophy and personnel that should continue. If Wig and Towns start hitting their shots, this team should be much improved over last year. And I think they will.

I am with you too. It's 4 games in but the defense does look real. Bjelica looks good as a defender rebounder. Payne already has one game where he looked like a worthwhile functional bench player. Obviously Wiggins has struggled and Lavine hasn't blown anyone away but this team has exceeded my expectations so far as a whole.

The Miami game they couldn't hit shots. They missed slot of good shots it wasn't them just taking bad shots. Mitchell is pleading for some guys especially Bjelica to shoot the ball. I am reasonably satisfied at this point. Maybe a few games from now I will be down but I am not right now.

I think the future of the franchise is still bright. I really like what I've seen out of Towns and Rubio so far. I also like that most of the team is hustling more on the defensive side. The main thing I'd like to see is Wiggins and LaVine show steady improvement throughout the year. We'll either make the playoffs or get a lottery pick and a new coach next year.

Wolves still haven't played a top with a top half offense

If I understand what you are saying, I think you are suggesting the Wolves haven't played a top half offense yet. That is an incorrect statement. Actually both the Lakers and the Trailblazers are ranked in the top ten offenses so far this year.

I'm going to go off a bigger sample size then 4 games and say that the Blazers and Lakers aren't a top half of the league offensive team
