Stauskas Watch

I get joked on sometimes for my strong liking for Nik Stauskas and how that's the one player that I was wrong about, or so it seemed. He had a poor rookie campaign in Sacramento, no doubt about it. I'm still wondering why they drafted him knowing they had Ben McLemore ahead of him. That was the worst possible situation for him to go to.

Things have changed. Now, Stauskas is in Philly where he's going to get consistent playing time from a franchise that has no one ahead of him in their future plans. He's also playing for a good coach in Brett Brown.

Stauskas has only played two games for the Sixers so far, but both have been very decent.

vs UTA: 21 mins, 3-6 FG, 2-3 3P, 4-5 FT, 3 reb, 2 ast, 12 points

vs CLE: 29 mins, 4-10 FG, 3-9 3P, 4-4 FT, 4 reb, 1 ast, 15 points

43.8% FG / 41.7 3P% / 88.9 FT% through two games. That's the guy I liked so much two years ago. I will continue to update this from time to time as I feel obligated to do so.

I'm still confident that Stauskas has the skills to be a good player in this league. Here's his highlights from the Cleveland game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWcVKMUNmNs

i hope to make a thread like this for Russell next year after he is traded to the Wolves for Dieng.

I was hoping we could have a trade for Stauskas. The 76ers got him at a bargain price.

I liked him a lot too Cam. I liked what I have seen from him including the first half I saw of that Cavs game. You are right he showed the type of skills we thought he would bring. Ita a good place for him to get minutes and the Sixers had to be thrilled to get him in a deal.

I didn't have much of an opinion on Stauskas. He's obviously going to get a very good chance to prove himself in Philly given their need for outside shooting. Still early though.

I've been a skeptic on him. Decent offense but can he defend? Not a 2 way player. Time will tell and it looks like he is getting a chance in Philly.

Speaking of young players trying to prove they belong, I haven't seen anyone post the latest Derrick Williams stats in a few days. Is the Lion still producing in NY?

All I know is the next time Cam is right about a prospect, we damn better make sure we throw him a big party at the end of the season. I'm also going to talk to the City Council about getting him a key to the city. It was shameful how poorly we treated Cam after he gifted us the KAT prognostication last year.

My sources say Stauskas is shooting 12-35 or 34%, and 8-26 or 31% on threes, both slightly worse than his numbers at Sacramento. He does seem to be getting more of a chance to play on this woeful 76ers team, as he played 35 minutes tonight.
