God Damnit Flip. By the time "you" feel the need to move in a different direction you will have already screwed us and set us back even farther than the decade we have already suffered through.
"Saunders: I'll return as Wolves coach
Timberwolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders, who appointed himself to head coach last summer, says he will remain in a dual role with the organization "until I feel we need to move in a different direction." Minnesota finished an NBA-worst 16-66 this year."

One of the most important/powerful men in the NBA decides to remain one of the most important/powerful men in the NBA.
I'm shocked.

We can only hope Freddy told Flip he would be interested in coaching X number of years from now. Perhaps when his daughter graduates or something.

I think ESPN took this a little out of context reading it again though.
Here's the Star Tribune: http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/300704481.html
That doesn't state anywhere that he's planning on coaching next year.

Everyone saw it coming but we should still be pissed about it. The smartest man in the room for the foreseeable future for the Wolves is Flip Saunders. It hurts a little to finish typing that sentence.

I don't want this to be a "I told you so" thread... but no... not everybody saw this coming.
[note: ok. i'd like it be that kind of thread... just a little bit...]

I'd be curious to know how many people actually thought he'd turn over the reigns versus just thinking he should. I would guess most were hoping he would hand over the reigns, but knew in the back of their mind that he'd stay the coach.

I can only go by what was written and argued and debated.
But subconsciously... a lot of people probably knew it was pretty likely. I think we're almost universally in agreement in wishing/pining for a new coach with a fresh take.
