Michael Rand asked Tyus and Andre this question today, and will be posting the video at strib.com. 3 on 3, game to 11. Who ya got?

The vets would probably win today. After the season, I might take the young guys.

I took the old guys. But that was assuming it would be a less than 15 minute game :-)

I took the young bucks. The old vets may be better mentally, but Wiggins and Towns are too much physically. I think Wiggins would EAT on this version of Prince. I would also expect Miller to take Jones to the post, which would pose a big problem. I'd pay to watch it, though.

Yeah, that would be a fun one to watch. When I posted the poll, I really wanted to go with the young guys. but the more I thought about it, the more the answer kept coming up "vets". Keep in mind, this is half court 3 on 3, and the game is only to 11. Expand the court or the game length and the younger guys prevail.
I think it would come down to the KG/Towns matchup, and the Towns I watched in Vegas isn't ready to win this one yet. In a year, I hope and expect he completely dominates KG. But Karl struggled with some not very highly regarded guys in Vegas, and a savvy defender like KG will frustrate him. And on offense, KG would find a way to get Karl up in the air and draw fouls. Miller posts up Tyus all day, and when Towns comes over to try to help, Andre gets the ball to KG for an easy bucket. Wiggins doesn't have enough advantage in a half court game against Prince (although he wins the match up) and probably settles too much for step back jumpers.
Vets win 11-9.

Andre would take Tyus to the woodshed in the post. Towns doesn't have the post game to beat KG. Wiggins could likely get past Prince, but he'd be running straight into KG. Miller and KG would torch Tyus and Towns in the PnR. As long as the game doesn't last more than 20 minutes the vets would win.

I was the first to vote before all this analysis and I went with the old dudes. 3 on 3 is a totally different game it could come down to who hits more 3's than anything the young guys would have an advantage there although I could see Miller burying one when they leave him wide open. Lol I hope we do get to see this game it would be entertaining.

I sometimes wonder if these types of set-ups are far more exciting in our imaginations than they would be in reality. There is just way too much space to operate, therefore it would be iso after iso after iso with whoever has the mis-match.

I would think Wiggins would guard Miller. I really see Prince as the weak link of the old guys. I picked young guys because of Wiggins. I really think Jones shouldn't be part of this. It should be LaVine they are talking about.

Well, they could always make it a 5 v 5.
Miller, Martin, Prince, KG, Pek
Jones, LaVine, Wiggins, Towns, Dieng
Vets win.
