Updates from Milt Newton

Milt has been on the talk radio circuit at the fair...here are a few updates I have heard:
1) Rubio is fully cleared to begin basketball activities
2) Pek is not yet cleared. Milt is still hopeful he will be ready to go by training camp.
3) Wiggins is still growing...he measures 6'9" now!
4) Sam Mitchell plans to travel to Mexico City to watch the Canadian team
5) Training camp will be at the new facility this year, not Mankato
6) Dieng wants to be the new Dirk...stretching the floor with his new 3-point shot. Milt thinks the coaching staff will discourage this.
7) KG is in town and working hard on the court. Pek is expected in town soon.
8) He confirmed new trainer Arnie Kander has inked his deal and is in town.
That's what I heard. Anybody hear anything else? I'm guessing we're going to be getting our information from Milt while Flip is fighting his cancer.

I saw some of the game yesterday, and my first thought was that Wiggins looked taller. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not.

I think it's going to make the road to becoming a good ball handler a little tougher, but defensively, if he's getting longer as well, it should help him become an even better defender especially closing out on guys and helping down to the rim.

It means he might grow into being our PF.

Like old Georgetown Coach Thompson said "You can't teach height". I hope it's not just because of his hair. Lol
Interesting if Dieng really said he wants to be the next Dirk. I'd like to keep him closer to the basket but if he can actually make 3 pointers damn that would be fun.

That's not as ridiculous as it may seem.

Yeah nobody seems to be making fun of Bird for doing with PG in Indy and that's the position he was going to be playing for team USA. It's interesting to think about.

He could be pretty good there with a little more strength. I think that is the easiest thing to add to
a player. He would thought have to get a lot better at rebounding, but if he is playing next to Shabazz they might be okay.

Garnett played a ton of small forward for the Wolves early in his career too. Garnett/Googs/Garrett was the starting frontcourt.
I don't see Wiggins ever becoming a PF, but it's fun to think about.

Who would have thought the long-term lineup might be Ricky/Lavine/Bazz/Wiggins/Towns?
