How about this deal:

Houston gets: Love / Martin / Barea
Atl gets: Asik / MN #40 / Hou #42 (or future 2nd rounders)
MN gets: Resigned Parsons / Terrance Jones / Millsap

Hou: Obvious benefit is they get Big 3 (Love-Howard-Harden), and still have some depth to compete. They have been desperate to obtain a stretch 4, and :Love is the best in this role.

Atl: They have previously been linked with Asik, including at last seasons trade deadline. They have been very intentional about trying to get a center so they can slide Horford to PF. Horford, while a bruiser, is starting to get dinged up a bit having to play predominantly in the middle.

MN: While not getting a superstar in this deal, I love the potential of Parsons and Millsap on this team. Also, Jones showed the ability to be a solid starter when called upon as well....could be great insurance if we decide not to keep Millsap long term, which I would hope is not the case. Either way, he plays a valuable role this season as our main backup big off the bench. I also simply prefer Parson to Klay in that he offers a much more well-rounded game, while still being a dead-eye shooter and solid defender.

MN Projected Lineup:
C: Pek / Dieng / Turriaf
PF: Millsap / Jones / LRMAM
SF: Parsons / Bud / Shabazz
SG: Brewer / Bud / FA (Meeks or Morrow in that order)
PG: Rubio / FA (Collison or Sessions or Vazquez or Chalmers in that order)

I like it. Seems realistic as it hits everyone's needs.

If we are going to build someone else into a serious contender in the West and turns our team into a treadmill team why do it? We would become a playoff bubble without the chance of making it out of the first round. No thanks

Why would we use Pek to move up only three spaces in the draft? Additionally who are we targeting at 3 that we might not be able to get at 6?

I am SOOOO sick of this type of response. If it was possible to trade Love to the worst team in the league AND receive great assets, then yeah, we should do that. Realistically, if we get good players in return for Love, then there is certainly a chance that the participating team is going to be better than us in the near term. But how exactly is that different than if we bottom out and get beat by absolutley everyone for the next 4-5 seasons?

Personally, I am not williing to watch another rebuild. I have been watching since season 1, and I can tell you that the odds of drafting every player well and developing them perfectly, while avoiding key injuries is about 1 in a million odds. I would LOVE to watch a young team, as I put out there in the original trade, contend for a playoff spot in a tough western conference. Every team takes steps to the top, outside Miami, so I find it funny that many on this board aren't even interested in developing a playoff caliber team. Many of you want or expect championship or bust. This is a ridiculous way to think in the short term and longer term. Again, the first step is acquiring talent, preferrably young guys that can grow together, and then making steps to get into the playoffs. Thenext step is to improve further to become a top seed in your conference. There are very few shorcuts to this process. And the comment above basic states that there is no way to improve. This is ridiculous. The more you win, the more avenues you have to acquire important vet types that ultimately help teams succeed (i.e see Sprewell and Cassell if you want a "close to home" example).
