LA Media

I've grown quite sick of the Los Angeles media tossing around ludacris trade offers to make the Lakers look good. For years, it was that we were trading Love for Gasol. Before that, (don't quote me on this), it was that Rubio didn't want to play in MN, he wanted to play for the Lakers (or Knicks). Now it's that they think the #7 pick alone will land them one of the best shooters in the NBA in Klay Thompson. The ego of the Los Angeles Sports media infuriates me.

The 7th pick this year is a valuable asset and Klay isn't a franchise player and may be getting near max dollars if he were to be retained by a team like the Wolves. For a team needing to build its core, I'd prefer #7. Maybe if you thought Klay would get you to the promised land and your team had a short term window, I could see preferring Klay.

Might as well trade with Boston then. LA is not a factor.

I wish we would trade with Boston, if Cleveland isn't offering up their first for Love. I don't like the Golden State deal at all. Klay's a nice player but he's no franchise player and we'll have to overpay to keep him.

Agree with Phenom. Boston's already offered us 3 picks (including #6) and a player for Love. It's pretty silly to think we'd take #7. And to pass on one of the top 5 shooters in the league and one of the few 2 way SGs in the NBA at age 24 simply because he's going to get paid is a bit silly. We should be so lucky to get a SG that could be considered a max guy on a team.

To the OPs point, the LA media is a bit humorous on this one... If they fool anyone in LA to thinking they're getting Klay for #7 then it's going to be a long fall when that doesn't happen.

They did get Pau Gasol from Memphis for next to nothing.

Yea I also don't understand the fascination with what Klay will be paid. The Wolves won't be players in free agency anyway. Might as well get a really good young player and see if he can elevate his game with a bigger role. If Klay does get the max, it means good things for the Wolves because he kills it this year. I am looking forward to retooling this time instead of a rebuild again.

Memphis had given up on everything by that point. But you have a point...they made one or two ridiculously one sided trades already. On the bright side, the last time that happened (Dwight Howard) he walked on them and they went broke.

and kek has a point, they did give up Marc Gasol, although he wasn't thought to be all that great at that time
