Why Kmart?

Why do so many on this board think Martin is going to be just thrown in on any love trade? They are allready giving there best scorer on the team in love, So way would they just throw in the 2nd best on the team just for the hell of it? If they throw in anyone it's going to be Luc/JJ/Shved/Bud... Not someone that could be huge of the bench for them if they land the GS trade.... Ricky/Barns/Clay/Lee/Pek.. With Brewer/Martin/Dieng/bazz/Ronny on bench...

Because GS isn't going to send out all of it's non-Curry talent for Love and only Love. They're trying to build a contender and are going to need more than Love and garbage to make it worthwhile.

I don't think it's so much that people are down on Kevin Martin, but if we got Klay Thompson, then Martin is a bench player making starter money, and on the wrong side of his prime, especially if we take in 2 wing players in the trade/draft. Really, Martin has more value to the team that doesn't have a SG than the team that does.
I'd also argue that Pekovic may be the 2nd best scorer on our team behind Love.

Starter money? He makes like 1.5M more then a few of are bench players now lol..JJ/Bud and luc are all around 5M with martin at 6.5...And martin has allways been the 6th man befor coming to the wolves making a lot more then he is now...And martin had 19ppg with pel at 17ppg.

K-Mart's value isn't dependent on the team he's on. He's a scorer that makes $6.5M a year, which is pretty reasonable. Doesn't depend on athleticism, relies on his jumper and getting to the foul line. Two aspects of his game that shouldn't leave him as he gets older, especially if his minutes are kept in check.
Martin averaged more PPG and played in more games than Pekovic last year. Obviously Martin's stats go down if Thompson was acquired, but judging by our team last year, Martin was the clear No. 2 in the majority of the games.

Martin at $7 mil a year isn't terrible, you're right...but it's still a good chunk of money off the books. I'm not sure JJ is a good comparison since we're all trying to shovel him off to another team. At this point, JJ isn't an asset, especially north of $5 mil/yr. Mbah is completely overpaid, so he's a liability at his salary, and Budinger hasn't really been healthy yet so jury is still out there.

I just don't see any of the guy's that flip broght in last year going anywere....He wanted them here so why would he not want the coach them? The best part of being HC and GM you get the players you want...JMO

Not sure what your getting at? But i think you just made my point why JJ/Luc/Bud should be traded and not martin lol.

I disagree. If we trade for Klay then we've got Klay, Shabazz, Budinger, and Martin (assuming you don't count Shved) as 2 guards. (Budinger is a swing player, but plays some SG)
If you're Golden State, you've got Jordan Crawford and....Marshon Brooks maybe at SG? Minnesota could much more afford to let go of a shooting guard than Golden State at that point.
Martin also played more minutes and took more shots than Pekovic, and the numbers were pretty close....and let's face it, if we got Thompson, Pekovic would score far more PPG than Martin next year.

I agree that JJ and Luc should be traded in an ideal world before Martin, but unlike Martin, they're negative assets, and Golden State is not going to want them back. Kudos to Flip if he can make that happen.
I think now would be the worst time to trade Budinger....let's see if he can contribute when healthy before throwing him for scraps.
