What do you want a Kevin Love Trade to be centered on?

I want picks but they have to have the potential to be all stars. In this draft I think it is a crap shoot beyond the 4th pick (the big 3 and smart) Therefore if not a trade with Cleveland then it would have to be with Boston for their pick and all of the Brooklyn picks. Getting just the Boston pick doesn't excite me. The "proven" players suggested for Love aren't all stars or potential, instead they are role players on their teams. Except for Klay Thompson who would only provides us with a contract conundrum which GS doesn't even want to deal with.

I want proven players for love...Why take a step back? Add 2or3 starters with pek and ricky and give it a go..Klay/Lee/Barnes/Ricky/Pek would be a great starting 5 with Martin and Brewer coming off bench....If they want to go with just picks in a trade,They might as well blow it up and trade Martin/pek and Ricky...

1) A reasonable starting PF is important. Lee fits the bill. Gibson fits the bill. I'm sure there are others.
2) It sure would be nice to thin out our wings a bit, including getting rid of Barea.
3) A backup PG and backup PF are pretty glaring needs for the team.
4) Decent draft pick(s) don't hurt.
5) Anything else that upgrades a position is fine by me (like Klay)!

I'd prefer "both", but if I had to pick one or the other it would be proven players.

Proven players.

Picks are a long shot, and even getting a good number of top picks is no guarantee you'll get out of the cellar. Yes, OKC did well with their picks (though they haven't won it all), but for every OKC that had a few high draft picks for a few years, there are several teams like *ahem* ours, that whiffed on their picks, or even did ok but not great, and where did that leave us for the last 10 years?

Especially where our roster's at right now, and where we've been for the last 10 years, we should get good quality players. We just can't go through another 5 years of tanking as a franchise. And right now, we've got some solid veteran talent, and with a new coach, a couple new good players, and the right attitude, why couldn't we make the playoffs and become a bit of a dangerous team? It's time to turn around the loser mentality that this team has cultivated over the years. Picks won't do that soon enough, and maybe not at all.

Proven players are nice but almost all mentioned so far are proven role players. Proven role players only get you so far without a star to go with them. This is the draft to take a chance on a pick even if it is outside the top 3. I think if Thompson, Barnes, Lee is such a good combo then the Warriors wouldn't need a guy like Love to push them to the next level while killing their depth. I don't like the idea of paying Klay the max just to not get completely fleced in the deal by having him go elsewhere on a max deal. Combine that with Lee's almost max deal already for 2 years and we'd be taking on salary very quickly for a team with no chance at a title or deep playoff run. Then when Lee's deal is up who is going to replace him? You still have Klay on a max, Pek making 12 and Ricky probably making 10 at the least. That is about 2/3rds of the salary cap with no starting quality 4. I think you take picks in this draft because it has the most guys with at least all-star potential even if they aren't transcendent stars like a Durant or Lebron.

I like a deal that includes the first pick, but since I deem that quite unlikely, I went with proven players. And the best rumored potential deal to me currently is with GS for Thompson, Lee and Barnes, although the current best intelligence is that GS isn't close yet to putting Klay on the table. As much as I like this draft, outside of the first three I see too many holes in the next group of players. As exciting as draft picks are, we inflate their value because we imagine them dominating in the pros like they did in college. Players who actually end up being better pros than college players are rare (we may have a great exception on our roster in Gorgei Dieng), and more frequently they disappoint.

Players over picks...but more importantly, no deal at all if it's not good enough.

Definitely picks. This draft is loaded so I want a top 8 pick for sure, preferably Numero Uno with Wiggins being the guy. Ricky and Dieng are two pieces we can build around, if we get multiple lottery picks and we hit it right for a change, then we could build something special. Frankly, I just want to accumulate enough young talent that has a realistic shot at a championship some day over pushing hard to make the playoffs next year.

I will go picks and that is hard for me to say. I like the Warriors trade but we are not getting a franchise changing player in that trade. We will be in that spot good but not good enough to win a championship. We need to get lucky in the draft, more picks the better odds. I know we might bust on all of the picks, but we need to take the chance to hit a franchise changing player, even though it is hard for me to say it we might need to be bad for a few more years to really become a team that can compete for a championship
