Love and Rubio?

I was surprised to read that Rubio hasn't spoken with Love since the trade rumors surfaced. What does it say about their relationship, that they haven't been in touch. I would think your two best players would have regular contact throughout the off season. I guess I expected that Rubio would have reached out when the media was twisting the words from his Spanish interview about Love's leadership skills.

Nice article, but I still question why they haven't even called each other yet.
I always thought they got on quite well, and it seems Ricky must have thought the same based on his comments. I also question why Love would think things will be better in Boston if he gets traded there? They have the same issues we have, and less talent as well. Their best player other than Rondo is a PF, and their C isn't a rim protector. Their PG struggles to score, and is a worse perimeter shooter than Rubio, and by most accounts is a very tough guy to get along with.
If we make a trade with Boston they will likely have little left to improve their team, and even though they are in the East, isn't it about winning a title?

SJM -- Don't write theses sorts of things publicly. What if Love or the Celtics front office reads your post? That would mean one less trade option for the Wolves. :).

Obviously the locker room is broken. Love is part of the problem with that. Not the solution. I am starting to understand why JJ Barea was coming out on him last year.

I think relationships between players are under and overrated and have some sort of weird hype to them. I'm not saying they don't matter or anything I'm just saying that sometimes people read too much into that and I am not just talking Love and Rubio or the Wolves I mean sports in general.
I also think that its a little interesting that Rubio says he only knows the reports he hasn't heard anything from Love himself. I'd be pretty interested to hear what comes of that conversation between these guys.

I was surprised by that as well Monster, if for no other reason than the wolves are supposed to be talking extension with Ricky, and I would think he would want Love on board rather than risk getting caught in another rebuild.
I don't expect Ricky and Kevin to be going bowling, but I would have expected some type of contact maybe on a weekly or even monthly basis.
Lip, if Flip can go the radio, I should at least be allowed a little message board fodder! :)

Maybe Love and Rubio really aren't all that close.

Part of what I meant by Rubio not hearing anything is maybe Love hasn't made it known that he wants out as much as the reports make it sound so Rubio hasn't either. I know I sound like a total homer here but we really don't know for sure what Love has communicated. Even a blind homer like me knows Love is considering leaving after this year because he wants to win. This team hasn't made it to the playoffs in 10 YEARS. Of course Love is thinking of leaving that's obvious. The question I think we all have wondered and then for many of us made the decision on what info we have availiable to us how much he is basically out the door. IMO any conclusions people on this board make on the position Love is taking on leaving have plenty of validity. We just don't know and Love who normally is in the media a lot and seems to enjoy it has been silent. Whatever range he is in in leaving the Wolves that's probably a smart move because I think to a certain extent he has learned he can get himself in trouble there.
To me Rubio and Love are made for each other on the court. Rubio could be the key to this team taking the next step both in his play and his leadership. Rubio doesn't seem to like calling Love until he is in the US. Maybe he is cheap and likes to save in international calling. Lol
