That was a hell of a speech. Pure class. I've always loved KG the player. I loved his elite talent and loved his on-court passion even more. I've been iffy about him off the court over the years, but he's matured a lot since his playing days and it showed in this speech. He and McHale were feuding for a while, but the two of them have long since repaired their relationship as you can see in McHale's interview of KG a couple years ago. Listen to who KG recognizes by name in his speech - guys he's known and been friends with back to his youth in S. Carolina and including his teammates like Troy Hudson in MN. You have to respect and admire his long-term loyalty. I loved hearing him recognize by name some of the great big men who came before him. I've always appreciated his reverence for the game's elders and his overall respect for the game.
I put the blame for his issues with Glen Taylor squarely on Taylor. Yet, in spite of his issues with Taylor, KG payed homage to Minneapolis and even the Wolves organization in his speech. The Wolves organization, the City of Minneapolis and Wolves fans everywhere should be very proud of KG tonight.

Playing extremely hard, focused and with passion will get you very far. Some of the young guys could learn a thing or two from his play.
