Might as well talk draft....
I am actually kind of excited for draft this year. Maybe it is caused by sheer boredom, but I think there are some guys that can help this team at both spots (although, unlikely we keep both picks). Superstars? Probably not....but guys that can offer some things for the Wolves.
If Wolves pick at 3, I think everyone but Edwards could be available. Guys I like in order:
Toppin: I know...he's old. But man, does he have a great modern day PF game. Elite athlete, great interior game and emerging shooter. May not be great individual defender, but shows nice signs in highlights of playing weakside helper.
Wiseman: I know....rumors of inconsistent motor. Scary to be sure. But man, he has to body and athleticism to allow KAT to roam on offense, and help negative KAT's inability to defend. And he is 19.
Ball: Like his game....hate his dad. In fact, if I was running team, I may not draft him just because of Lavar. That said, he has shown immense progress over past year or so. And still growing (saying legit 6'7". Despite shooting woes, could be great backcourt partner long term for Russell.
Guys I don't like at this spot:
Okoro: I want to like this guy, as he is the type of defender we need in our lineup. But the 3-4 times I saw them play this year, I really didn't even notice him on the floor. Wallflower.
Anthony: Just don't like him this early.
Guys available at 16 in order:
Maxey: Love his ball pressure and willingness and ability to just take over when needed. Super exciting player than can put pressure of defenses with on ball defense and fast break potential. Not a great shooter, but crafty, quick and will score off bench in bunches in NBA.
Isaiah Stewart: Saw him play a few times. He is a do-sh!t player, as several posters on this board like to reference. Very sound big for such a young dude. Again, maybe not a starter, but seems to have to tools to become productive bench big. People like that McDaniels dude on Washington because of physical profile, but Stewart is simply the much better player.

Good idea Hicks. The only positive thing about this virus was not having to watch this team play out yet another disaster of a season.
I say take a PF like most others are saying.

I'd still take Ball regardless of his dad or the other options. The game is dominated by ball handlers and we need another one next Russell. He's 6'7 and just needs to fill out his frame more but he'll be perfectly fine at the 2 at that size. Fill in the defensive tools later. We still have a ton a weight on Russell and Towns to be an elite 2 man game to carry the whole offense and they need help via some other offensive creators even if that ends up being Ball and Russell staggering some minutes to keep a good creator on the court at all times.

Re: Might as well talk draft....
I'm very afraid of this draft. There was a lot of uncertainty, almost unprecedented at the top of the draft... BEFORE the pandemic.
I have no idea who the Wolves should take. Or even why. What I do know is that it could be a telling Rosas draft and for the future of the Wolves, obviously.
I think he missed last year. (I liked Clarke, so the Wolves could have traded DOWN, kept assets and acquired assets) for the better player. It's a very important draft. I'll probably be more interested than normal (not for the draft but to see the picks on the court in October) than normal just because of its gravity.
So I'll be reading all the accolades about whoever they choose with crossed fingers, hoping for the best.
[Note: One thing about a flat draft... the Nets pick could be nearly as important as the Wolves pick.]

Too me, KAT is Dirk, and Dirk's best years are when he had a quality center next to him (Can you imagine DAL playing Dirk as their C-slash-top-post-defender for any sustained length of time? Exactly).
To me, that's Wiseman (#3) and Oturu (#15). Then either get Prince from BKN as they avoid the lux or resign Beasley, and play Culver at the 2.

Maybe.
But would Dirk have the same success in the NBA in the 2020s as he did 10 - 20 years ago? I get zigging when others zag... but to bring in another sport... I also wouldn't mortgage my franchise's future on a RB.

But is really mortgaging? I feel like they need more good post minutes, and why not those minutes be C minutes so KAT can be the designated PF?
I think Dirk is a 40/50/90 guy in area era that has the three point line.
Note: One of the reasons I just laid out every opinion I have on the Wolves is because I don't plan on following every thread. I just feel like the 20/21 wolves should be KAT, DAR, and Culver, with Beasly and/or Prince (if he could be had) and C's who will defend, rebound and cut.

Mortgaging may not be the right term.
"Punting" if it doesn't work out? The next probable pick is in 2022.

We can't afford to have a guard who can't (maybe/probably) shoot the 3 well. I'm keeping Beasley and then seeing how Culver develops. I'm not to interested in a guard. Look at SF or PF who can shoot and defend.
