Jalen Rose suggests...

Westbrook to the Spurs or Wolves (for Dunn+LaVine+pick). Rose was also the first person to suggest LaVine+#5 for Jimmy Butler.

So....LaVine+Dunn+future pick for Russell Westbrook (arguably a top 5 NBA player, but will turn 28 in-season).
Do you do it?

Gotta consider it if you can get assurances from Westbrook that he will re-sign here. But I suspect such assurances will NOT be coming...

Nope because Westbrook isn't going to commit.

I know I should want that deal, but I just have no interest in giving a conference rival their starting backcourt for the next decade.

It would obviously be contingent on Westbrook extending. Jalen seems to think Westbrook would extend with the Wolves, because the Wolves are a team that could be very good for a while. (most other options either don't have the assets, the talent, or already have an established PG)

For the record...I'm not saying "I" think Westbrook would extend with the Wolves, I was just passing along the suggestion.

I don't think it's a lock that he wouldn't either, however.

I'm not a contract cap Genius like that Heat guy on Twitter but I don't think Westbrook can do an extension right now even if he wanted to. So all you would have was his word that he would want to re-up after the season. That wouldn't be good enough for me to give up a hefty package to get him. That's not a dig on Westbrook I would say that for any player.

Westbrook is going to be 28 and he's not the best teammate. I dont want to give up three much younger good players to get him. We'd have to give up too much and that's even if he would agree to extend.. I get how good he is, but OKC once had Durant, Ibaka and Harden and all have left. He's going to want to take tons of shots and I know some of the other Wolves may not like that. He shortens our window. Lets keep our core intact and let them grow into stars together. They are good teammates and when we are on the cusp of greatness, I bet there will be some very good players willing to take less pay to join our train.

If we really want Westbrook here and he wants to be here, wait one year and sign him on the open market.

Maybe it's Ricky + player + pick.
