There's been a lot of excuses made for the Wolves terrible play over the last few loses/season and well....history. Whether that be "we have some injuries", "it's all Thibs fault", "just gotta get Wigs the ball to get him going" etc. etc. I am personally exhausted by them and don't really see the light at the end of the Wolves Den. Therefore, let's have some fun with some new excuses for our terrible losses! We've heard all the classics but now it's time for some newbies! I'l start.
The only reason we lost to this bad Magic team is because the team spent too much energy at Disney world. We all know that Wigs needs his cotton candy to be engaged and clearly Ryan Saunders just doesn't understand this basic game plan. Okogie getting kicked off space mountain doesn't help, as he was pushing and shoving everybody in line to get to the ride. And if only Taj stopped throwing up his arms and complaining every time the team suggested a place to eat at Epcot, they wouldn't have left so late. This was a bad loss, but excusable. I know next time we'll be in and out of the animal kingdom in less than 2 hours. Hopefully a lion doesn't eat Dieng this time....
Go Wolves

I think the main problem is that people believe there should be excuses. We are not as good as we think, it has always been that simple. I think the biggest tell was hearing Glens rationale for firing Thibs was that he felt were a playoff team and we were underachieving. Reality is we're worse than many of us want to believe. I lean towards homer, but I'm supposed to be because Im a fan. The best GMs are ruthless in evaluating their talent, and we've never had anyone like that in charge. I feel like Thibs sharing GM /coach duties was a continuation of that. Taylor just wants someone feeding him happy news and that will appease him in spite of reality.

Yep. I honestly think it goes back to KATs rookie year. We went 10 and 10 in our last 20 games and from that point on we thought our talent was better than it was (I did also) In reality we beat 8 of those 10 teams when those 8 teams were missing their best player.
We were good last year but Jimmy is a dick and ruined the franchise hope going forward in the near future. It is what it is but man it sucks and we have dark days ahead if we don't hit in the lotto (woohoo)

There's a pretty simple reason why we aren't better. Our cornerstones don't elevate the team to victories. Towns gets his 23/12, but he's not Jokic out there getting everyone involved and generating good team offense and he's not anchoring a top 10 defense either. Wiggins can't even make himself good most nights let alone teammates. We have no go to guys that make everyone around them better. Covington is one of those difference makers on defense to the point where we'd probably be a playoff team if he stayed healthy. But outside of his defensive impact on the team what do we have? We need that guy on the wing so Towns can keep doing what he's doing as a 1b guy while someone else elevates the team play.
We're 14th in offensive rating and 18th in defensive rating. We have no identity. We're just wildly average on both sides of the ball. Add Covington back and a true go to offensive player who can elevate the offense of everyone around Towns and we have a great chance at being a good team. The problem is getting that guy. We need a Kemba or Lillard or Booker or Beal and we just have no chance at adding that kind of guy to this team. AD is a top 5 player in the league and couldn't really get that team to the playoffs consistently so Towns won't be able to do it either unless he really steps up his defensive game from fine to great.

Too true. If only Monsterpile posted 10 more times a day we'd be winning. But no, he chooses to be a lazy bum

Let's not underestimate the impact of the RoCo and Tyus injuries. These guys were ranked #1 and #5 respectively on the team in terms of Net Rating and are our two best perimeter defenders. I'm still not sure we make the playoffs even if they were healthy, but I do think we would have stuck closer to .500.

It's cause I've been playing too many minutes I just can't get more posts up. I told KG I'll be an all-star poster next year!!!

Excuses:
1) It was about 80 degrees warmer in Orlando than Minnesota. Considering how all of the Wolves players love living here so much... I mean why wouldn't these guys from warmer climates, many from more very diverse cities not instantly warm to a hockey community with frigid temperatures that turn our extra pale faces a balmy shade of red?
They longed to take their kids and beautiful wives sledding at the local park with the other neighborhood families. Instead, they had to spend it at a hotel in a city that's really warm before heading to that super boring and staid city known as New Orleans where they'll be forced to stay for at least an extra night since they don't play again until Monday... and be surrounded by horny drunk chicks showing off their boobies.
2) - The Magic might have lost between 53 and 62 games per season for many years now... but that was against everybody else. They know they're going to be battling the Wolves for a lottery pick most years, so beating them is doubly important because it affects both teams' position. So it's no wonder why this team who wins at a 30% clip vs. everybody else suddenly wins at a 92% clip vs. the Wolves.
3) Khem Birch played more minutes than he has for a month. When the Magic unleash their secret weapon like that... the opposing team has no shot. (Don't know who Khem Birch is? He's the Magic's 6'9" undersized backup to the backup center who literally had no chance of stopping KAT last night. Maybe you missed him because KAT only got the ball occasionally against Birch.)
4) Thibs. The worst coach in the history of the league can't be jettisoned without some lasting residue left behind. Don't worry, most of the problems of the Thibs regime will be almost completely gone by 2024.
5) The Wolves are playing their 4th/5th string PGs. (Ooops. That one is real. Don't know how that slipped in there.)
