i like to look at these ratings about every 20 games:
Player - Ortg/Drtg/Net
Covington - 103.4/97.5/+5.8
Saric - 101.0/96.4/+4.6
Rose - 111.2/107.3/+3.9
KAT - 108.5/109.0/ -.5
Wig - 109.3/111.5/-2.2
Teague - 109.4/111.9/-2.5
Gibson 108.5/111.7/-3.3
Dieng 99.8/103.7/-3.9
Jones 98.6/103.0/-4.4
- I'm not including Okogie and Tolliver since they are currently out of the rotation and haven't played yet in the post-Jimmy phase.
- RoCo and Saric are making the trade we made look brilliant.
- Very disappointing to see KAT and Wig, our two supposed pillars, with net negatives. We know that these two, along with the rest of the non-RoCo starters did play a lot of minutes during the Butler fiasco. We'll see how these numbers look in another 20 games.
- Is Saric a good defender? I'm not sure. This is a limited sample size and he's playing bench minutes. But still, not bad since this was considered somewhat of a weakness for him. My eye test tells me that he is fundamentally solid.
- Rose is the anti-Crawford coming off the bench. While he isn't a great defender, he isn't a total sieve either. And on offense he is scoring much more efficiently than Crawford did. He's the comeback story of the year so far.

Those are some pretty interesting stats. The main take-aways are the contributions of RoCo and Saric. But it's also interesting to see that Wiggins' defensive net rating is lower than KAT while Wiggins' offensive rating is slightly higher than KAT's.

As a Tyus Jones fan, I'm disappointed that he trails the pack. His shooting has been so dreadful, I guess it makes sense. Lends some support to those calling for Rose to get the backup PG minutes and Josh to back up Wig.
As long as they make spiteful people like me happy, let's continue to add Butler to the list:
107.1/113.2/-6.1 (or worse than the nine players in the Wolves' rotation)
And to avoid beating a dead horse, I won't post Zach's numbers :(

Keep in mind that KAT played a number of games with Okogie starting for Andrew. In those games our defense was a little better but our offense was worse.

Yeah, Tyus has been up near the top of the table in this metric the last couple of years. He's simply missing too many shots, but he appears to be getting the job done defensively.

Tyus Jones now third on the team in Net Rating, having steadily climbed up the charts over the past couple weeks. This is now the third year in a row he has had the best net rating among the team's point guards and in all three seasons it's been positive, despite being on a losing team for two out of those three years.
Given his sub-par "counting stats" (e.g. points), I would hope we view him as an undervalued asset that should be retained at a reasonable price beyond this season. Clearly good things happen when he's on the floor.

Everything is right in the world again :) . Tyus has struggled with his shooting his entire career, although recently he has been much better, but when you are disruptive on defense and absolutley refuse to turn the ball over on offense, you are going to have good +/- numbers.

Kat 110.6/108.9/+1.7
Wiggs 110.8/109.8/+1.0
Basically wveryone that gets minutes is now a + (teague, taj, dieng, and okogie are basically 0).

40 games in:
KAT - 111.5/108.1/+3.4
Taj - 111.2/107.9/+3.4
RoCo - 108.5/105.5/+3.0
Teague - 112.7/109.9/+2.8
Rose - 111.2/109.1/+2.1
Jones - 104.3/102.6/+1.8
Wiggins - 111.2/109.6/+1.6
Okogie - 105.7/104.4/+1.3
Saric - 106.2/105.5/+.7
Dieng - 101.0/103.6/-2.6
- Things have really tightened up, to the point where a couple blow out wins can change people around on this list (Teague especially has moved up a lot due solely to the last two games).
- Everyone a net plus, yet we have a losing record. We tend to blow out people more than we get blown out, which probably inflates these numbers a bit.
- The good news is we have no "lineup wreckers" like Crawford was last year.

Q, I don't know what stats you look at, but I look at advance stats from three reputable sites and they tell a different story. There are advanced plus minus and net rating metrics given by ESPN, NBA.com and Basketball Reference and KAT looks good in all of them, along with Covington. Tyus looks good in two of them.
Edit: I just realized your initial post was from beginning of year. LOL
