I've teetered with it for years. But a lot of fans here have talked me off the ledge... so my inherent tendencies toward centrist opinions ended up winning out. For example, I'd couch many Wiggins criticisms with some sort of compliment or more likely caveat like "but it's still early"...

No more.

Fuck that guy. I don't know how else to share these thoughts without being a bit coarse. But they're long overdue. We're 340 games in at this point. I've given him enough time to figure things out. There's no magic "aha" moment coming. There's no maturation of his game. There's no nuance. No hidden value.

Only deep, dark, dismal, never-ending misery designed solely to sap the spirit of my soul. Move over Rashad McCants... we have a new Devil in town. And there are only 299 games to go...

I feel better.

I missed most of the game, but stats wise looks ok minus the shooting. 6reb, 1stls, 2blk look solid. In a short sample size he is shooting 39% from 3, 80% from the line and 1.6 stls per game which if sustainable are all career highs. As long as you accept that he is not who we thought he was going to be, and he is going to be here for awhile, it is what it is.

For the 5th straight season... he has a negative VORP.

So pick a random player around the league... there's a decent to good chance he'd be more impactful (positively) than Andrew Wiggins has been over the past 340 games.

And he might even make about 10x less.

Yeah, this is long overdue. The only way to look even remotely even-keel on this thing is to completely dismiss the amount of money he makes. Unfortunately, every player is weighed against their salary. Wiggins would be considered an awesome player if he made $8MM per year. But at $30MM+, he is as Abe states, a complete disaster for this franchise.

So many people on here get caught up in the "we can't afford to lose him, so we better over pay him" stuff, and this is where it gets you. I remember banging the drum before we signed him that it would be a huge mistake. Many questioned Glen Taylor's handling of his pending contract where he dared meet with Andrew and actually contemplate if it was a wise financial move. Well, his hesitancy and concern was certainly accurate. Only wish he would have gone with his gut and not signed him.

At this point, I would unload him to a team like Sacramento that has cap space and could take a chance. That is the only team I can think of that may jump at him.

I tried so hard to see the "other side" when it came to signing Wiggins to a max contract a year before he would become a restricted FA. I was a damn fool for even trying. He is a shitty basketball player and Thibs deserves to be fired for making such a premature decision on extending him a max contract.

Fuck Wiggins. Fuck Butler. Fuck Thibs.

I like Andrew the person. He seems like a pretty humble guy that doesn't cause problems. He'd be the perfect "I let my play do the talking" kind of star, like Duncan or Kawhi. And I'm sure he works on his game in the offseason. But he's been a massive disappointment on the floor, I don't think anyone can argue that point anymore.

Hopefully once Thibs is fired, the POBO and coach we bring in are smart enough to realize that Wiggins and his contract is one of the first things that needs to get unloaded. My biggest fear is that the next regime will think they can figure out how to best use Wiggins, seeing untapped potential that others just weren't capable of bringing out....only to drag out the disappointment for N more years.

The only other result was going to be matching a max offer another team offered him in free agency. Congrats he's still on the team with a max deal and you save a year. That's the market value for a 23 year who plays almost every game and scores 20 a night. So the other option was to let him go for nothing with limited resources to replace him. He isn't worth that contract, but he'a worth more than nothing to a team like us that had nothing else to build around Towns. That's just the reality of the situation.

That's what I kept trying to believe, over and over and over. But I have a hard time believing there is any team out there that would even consider offering him a max contract. The only downside is Wiggins opting to accept the Qualifying Offer, thus becoming an unrestricted FA next year.
