Horrible start, Jimmy is gone soon or after the season. Same with Thibs. Wouldn't the wise move to tank the season?

Well, the only logical answer is "none of the above". The Wolves clearly don't have enough talent or coaching to win it all, but tanking to get a top 3 pick is not an option. They would have to make up an injury for KAT and Rose, and play big minutes for guys like Bates-Diop to finish below teams like the Cavs, Suns and Knicks...not gonna happen. It's time to just sit back, enjoy the energy (and 37% shooting) of Okogie, and speculate on who we should take with the 12th pick in the draft.


(BTW...my pick is shot blocking center Bol Bol, if he's available.)

Too early for me to basically completely dump on the season ask me in another 5-9 games.

I voted "No" although I don't really like the verbiage that comes after as it implies that the only teams that shouldn't tank are ones that are legit contenders. Really? Tell season ticket holders and casual fans that go to the arena that they MUST watch losing basketball unless the team can contend for a title.

One thing we've talked a lot about around here is the losing culture and mentality of this franchise. I believe our past tanking has to some extent bolstered that culture. Just look at KAT and Wiggins, two blue chip prospects that came into a losing culture and just keep on losing unless a functioning Jimmy Butler comes save the day.

So no, we need to keep competing hard and trying to win games. I see zero upside to losing games as we have proven time and again that lottery picks rarely solve our problems.

This team has little to no chance to make the playoffs. I see no reason why we should hope for more ping pong balls, play the young guys, save the vets legs.

In the end, this team doesn't even need to try to tank, they will be by themselves.

But what constitutes as tanking. Besides KBD all of our young guys are currently playing.

I don't know how we realistically tank. This is our team and they will lose on their own and the lottery odds are also more balanced this year

So now after our reward for all that time was one season... we're being told that the plan didn't work...






... so we're trying it again.

I agree that we'll do fine on our own "tanking" by just staying the course with the current mess of a coach and locker room. What I don't want to see is suddenly KAT missing games due to "general soreness" or playing rookies over vets that have earned the playing time.

Put yourself in the Owner's shoes. If a team hasn't actually had a winning record or made the playoffs in over a decade, then HELL YES it makes business sense to actually make the playoffs, even if the team is quickly exited. The "must contend or bust" mentality ignores business realities and, even more important, simply hasn't worked here. And besides all of that, no one has a path to a title as long as the Golden State trio is around. So are you suggesting that Houston should fold up and tank? How about San Antonio? Do you think it's realistic for them to tank too?
