Wolves Roster

The Wolves will begin training camp with a roster of 20 players, including both two-way contract players (McLaughlin & Martin) as well as a couple 10-day deals (Jordan and Wigginton). The roster will have to eventually be trimmed to 17, ending up with 15 regular roster players plus both 2-way contracts. That means the Wolves will eventually need to trim 3 of its current roster players. Even if the Wolves eventually cut both 10-day players (Jordan and Wigginton), they will have to also release at least one other player on a guaranteed contract. I don't see the Wolves releasing either of their draft picks or Layman who has a multi-year guaranteed deal. And I don't see the Wolves releasing Reid after signing him to a very team-friendly multi-year deal as a developmental prospect.

Ultimately, I see the Wolves releasing Treveon Graham or Ty Wallace. And I see the Wolves releasing both if they decide to keep either Wigginton or Jordan. So I suspect the Wolves will be giving all four players a lot of opportunity to show what they can do in training camp and the preseason.

Lip I'd guess you mean exhibit 10 deals not 10 day....it would be a pretty long 10 days for guys that sign these deals months ago. Lol :) Anyway regardless of the technical stuff I'd guess those exhibit 10 guys will end up in Iowa. I believe they can sign a total of 4 exhibit 10 deals and then send those guys to Iowa as affiliate players. I'll be pretty surprised if any of those exhibit 10 players makes an actual roster spot. I'd see a more likely senario where McLaughlin maybe getting a roster spot and having a 2-way open up but yeah I don't think the other guys are going to impress THAT much. I would certainly be happy to be wrong.

Anyway back to the exhibit 10 contracts after they make cuts they could sign another guy/s to an exhibit 10 contract and waive him and send him to Iowa. Tyus Battle signed an exhibit 10 deal soon after the draft but I have heard nothing about him. I wonder if they moved on. It will be interesting to see who sticks around from last season's team in Iowa and it may be interesting to see if the Wolves make some trades with guys they have G-league rights to. I need to get to at least one Iowa Wolves game this year.

I've never thought Ty Wallace would stick here and personally thought he'd be waived prior to the season's start when Minnesota acquired him.
