No kidding. I thought it was interesting how candid he was. Essentially admitting that he was phoning it in at times. And that he wasn't putting in the work. It's something we all have seen with many guys who come into the NBA with physical tools, but never really do much. It's why I probably root for someone like a Tyus Jones a little more than someone like an Micheal Beasley.
I'm also still amazed that Darko seems to find his way back into print every year or so. He was a huge bust. But I think there have been plenty of other guys who have surpassed him in that category by now. Cripes, Derrick Williams was #2 overall too and while he recently found a home, he could easily have had a Darko type career. I admit, I used to be captivated by players who had all the tools thinking "they just need the right coach/system/chance". But I'm starting to think in many cases it's really that those guys are not willing to do what is necessary to be successful. I'll be surprised if the Caged Lion has changed his ways or if this is just another false hope on his underwhelming career.
And lastly, the article shows conclusively what a true Ding-Bat Kahn was. He went out and grabbed a guy who failed everywhere and didn't want to be here...labelled him "Manna from Heaven". Surrounded him with other questionable motor guys like Beasley and Wes Johnson. Think about how far we have come!

Yeah, Kahn's drafting set this franchise back 5 years: Flynn, Wes Johnson, and Derrick Williams. Just back-breakers! You've gotta hit the nail on the head with at least one of those. And even Rubio, while I love the guy, you probably have to rate a B- or C+ given his injury history and never really turning into a star.

Flynn and Wes were bad, but 99% of all GMs would have taken D-Will at #2.
