Kevin Martin is Back - Wolves vs Kings - GDT

Kevin Martin returns to the starting lineup tonight. He was a player I got excited for when we signed him but his play this season has been largely forgettable, his three point shooting is not what I had hoped it would be. On another note, I wonder if D-Will will go off against us again, I think we are the only team he actually tries against. Zgoda just tweeted that he has scored 48 pts in 12 games since he went off for 26 the last time he played us.

I'm glad that Kevin is back, but I share your disappointment about him, volans. It's interesting...I think it has much more to do with his heart than his play, because his numbers are similar to what they have been his entire career. He is a 38.5% career 3-point shooter, and that's what he hit this year too. So why am I also disappointed in his long-range shooting? I think it's because he didn't seem to make them when the game was on the line. Yes. he did hit a mid-range game winner, but other than that, he seemed to get most of his points during our bog first quarters...and then he would disappear. Others have pointed out how he would avoid the ball at crunch time. The guy can score, but he can't defend and he lacks heart.

Speaking of guys with no heart...yes, we do get to watch Derrick again tonight.

I guess that is what has been so fun watching this team recently. They are leaving it all on the court every night. A month ago, I never thought I'd be staying in to watch the Wolves on April 13, but here I am.

I'm predicting Corey scores less than 50 tonight.

Long, I agree Martin just doesn't make a huge impact in games. He can put up the quietest 25 points, he'll miss a ton of 3's than can either help seal the game or help get us back in the game.

I appreciate his offensive prowess but I agree with the common sentiment on this board that he would be better off as our 6th man. It's the role he'll need to learn to excel at considering he is going to be 35 when his contract is up

Sac-city favored by 2, probably only because of the absence of Love and Pek. But the Kings really suck, played last night (DMC had 43 minutes) and Gay is out (replaced by the tin woodsman Williams), so I say the Wolves win. We know Ricky, Corey, and Gorgei are going to leave their guts on the court.

Jim Pete has spent half the time talking about Gorgei tonight...he's his biggest fan. He asked where G would go if they held the draft today, and Benz said top 5. You could tell Jim wanted to say first, but he couldn't pull the trigger.

I don't remember G having any of this offensive game at Louisville. I wonder if, with all the offensive talent they had, Pitino told him just to rebound and play D and not shoot.

I switched over to the Sac-town TV feed, and the announcers were talking dismissively about how G can't handle DMC. I think they better check the scorebook. Both canter are 8 and 4, but DMC has needed 6 shots to get there and G only 4. And DMC has 2 fouls and 2 turnovers.
