I'm always sucked in by this relatively meaningless chunk of games. It will mean more now with the split contracts and the fact that the Wolves will be setting up and I tire roster for the Iowa Wolves. We will soon see what guys make up the SL roster. This is the place to post the guys you are interested in seeing etc.
Only a few days ago we were talking about how this should maybe be Dunn's show and chance to shine and get some confidence. He is now gone and we picked a big that's somewhat raw. I think the Wolves should have the best PG they can to help him out. If he is willing I think Tyus should be playing in these games.
I'm really intruiged by Deonte Burton.
VJ Beachem has length, a sweet looking shot and seems to be plenty good enough athlete.
Amile Jefferson is on for summer league.
I have seen a couple other teams sign guys to split contracts already. I don't think any of these guys have gotten that yet. There are plenty of options.

Monster, can you explain what the split contracts are? I'm assuming it's a combination of NBA and G league deal.

I'll try and explain it.
So first off the NBA is expanding rosters so you have 17 with 2 of those spots guys being in the G-league. I believe you can put anyone down there so if a vet guy got hurt you can do a rehab time down there to get them ready to roll.
With the split contracts let's say we wanted to sign Deonte Burton to one of these split contracts. He would be part of the 17 man roster. While he is in the G-league his earnings are based on say $250,000 a season. If he makes the regular NBA roster then his time up would be based on like $700,000. This all sounds good right? The reason some guys may not want to do this is that the straight min contracts are worth more. I don't have the correct numbers in front of me just using rough examples. I do know they raised the G-league salaries quite a bit because I think those guys were only making 5 figures. In addition those 10 day contracts they make pretty good money on. The other thing is that the split contract means you will get some money and have an attachment to a team but it might also mean that you are stuck there and if they don't need you you don't get much money. Another guy that Is just available in the d-league can get signed by any team and make a healthy chunk of money just in a couple 10 day contracts and in general have flexibility of where to go. International play isn't an option either which could be much better financially.
One reason you may see some teams jump to sign a couple split contract guys is because they count less against the cap than a vet min guy by a decent chunk.
Anyway hopefully that gives you some idea of how it works. I have some more logistic questions myself about how this all will work but it's very exciting.

Thanks for the explanation. I noticed the Mavs have signed a couple players on these contracts.

Since Duke asked about the split contracts I'll post this G-league FAQ here. It might be something worthwhile to bookmark. There is a lot of good info.

A couple things that jumped out at me.
It said that the 2 way contract guys can be on the NBA roster for a maximum of 45 days. I didn't realize that was restricted. To me that means both team and player feel like there is a real partnership in developing that player for the year and maybe longer. Unless that player is traded they are locked in and may not make a ton of money. So both player and team would want to feel really comfortable signing that deal. I see why the Wolves haven't just gone out and signed someone already when they are just starting up their team and a player may be somewhat hesitant to sign a deal with no history compared to other teams that have years of doing the D-league thing and developing guys.
There is a chart of how much you can make as a 10 day contract guy. It's a pretty good gig espcially compared to the peanuts they get payed in the D-league.
There is a Ben Bentil rule. Lol

Well it's the first game today for the Wolves. I know Patton isn't playing but there is a good chance one of these guys is a part of the Wolves organization in some way even if it's just an affiliate player in Iowa. Plenty of teams even last year (even the Knicks!) have found players that were worthwhile from undrafted guys etc that were at the bottom of rosters.
Maybe the most interesting part of this whole team is seeing what Ryan Saunders can do with this group that has no clear top prospect and also if the Wolves actually brought in some solid talent. There certainly has been times in the past few years where it feels like some of the guys were scrubs even for this level of play and the Wolves didn't either target the right guys or didn't care. Maybe that wasn't true but it's how it felt to me. They clearly overachieved last year but they had Tyus but they really seemed to come together and play well.

This summers Wolves team is very underwhelming but I too am a bit intrigued by Deonte Burton. Maybe a cheaper version of Bazz?

As far as I know, Burton is the one we didn't "sign", thus we have no rights. He can go anywhere after summer league.
