I think he's a great pickup if we can get him. We need a 6th man scoring punch and he's consistently one of the best. He's also a good spot starter for the games Butler will likely miss.

sounds like a done deal now per Shams
"Sources: Crawford plans to sign with Minnesota on a two-year, $8.9M deal, with second year player option, once he clears waivers."
That's a pretty nice signing.

ahhh so we gave him some dough that makes more sense lol I was stunned that he didn't sign with Cleveland for a second

Cleveland must not have offered their Tax Payer MLE. So the Wolves got him for their Room MLE (or at least that is my assumption).
Crawford's game seems to be on the decline. But if we are going to say "look at Rubio's post all-star numbers", well Jamal's post all-star numbers are really great, too! Including shooting .400 from three.
Jamal has been on Doogie's Scoop Podcast from time to time. He has said he would love to play for Thibs, so I assume that was a factor, in addition to higher expections for the Wolves.

It makes sense to sign a combo guard like Crawford. It gives more flexibility and player combinations since he can play point if needed.
PS: It's quite strange losing Lavine and gaining Crawford.

You are right getting him really helps. We could go with another younger player at PG and we can go with the best shooter/defender guys like Rush because Crawford adds a ball handler. This is a really nice signing.
This is just another yep to Tim's plan of getting Lavine back next year. Lol

Ok, gives us another 35%ish shooter. Not as good as CJ Miles would have been at that, but he can also score in other ways, giving us some scoring off the bench to replace what Zach and Bazz gave us. Not as good a rebounder as CJ either, but he can handle the ball and pick up assists as well, which will also be nice, such a crafty player. Can play the point or the 2. Getting pretty old. Would have been nice to get more of a 2-way guy like Afflalo, but for that kind of money, you're not getting KCP or anything. Short term contract.
When you step back and assess who we lost and who we added, it's hard not to feel pretty good about how we could look on the court next year. We are a better, smarter, more experienced team. By a long shot.
OUT
Rubio-a great playmaker and off-the-ball defender, high BBIQ guy who fought hard and always made a positive impact, but was a historically horrible outside shooter, couldn't get dribble-penetration, and had trouble defending on-the-ball against quicker PGs, all of which caused problems for us, he also never played in the playoffs
LaVine-a gifted scorer who is blossoming into a very good 3 point shooter but was never a good defender and usually a net minus for us on the floor, would be a great 6th man, zero playoff experience
Dunn-a very good, disruptive defending backup PG, but very bad offensively and had a horrible shooting year last year, looking like a one-sided future backup, no playoff experience
Bazz-a per-minute bench scoring monster who did not have the mentality to do anything other than try to score with the ball and was never much of a shooter or defender despite the hustle, never played in the playoffs
IN
Butler-a legit two-way star with versatile skill set and a very high BBIQ who meshes perfectly with our coach and has a lot of playoff experience, the perfect model for what Wiggins could become
Teague-a former All-Star who is smaller than Rubio and not as good a playmaker, but a better outside shooter, quicker and more capable of breaking down defenses off the dribble, and capable of defending quicker PGs on the ball, all of which offer more flexibility and a better fit for the modern game, runs the pick-n-roll well and can run an offense with a steady hand and he has a ton of playoff experience
Gibson-a very solid lunch-bucket PF who defends well in the paint (which will be great next to KAT) and can step out and guard on the perimeter, shot doesn't extend beyond midrange, but he's very efficient, doesn't make many mistakes, and meshes well with our coach and our new star player, also with plenty of playoff experience
Crawford-a historically prolific bench scorer, one of the best 6th men in recent history, savvy on the floor with a high BBIQ, he can close quarters and run the offense for stretches like Butler, he's at the end of his career but he can still get it done, should shoot about 35% from 3, can handle the ball well and distribute as well, also with a ton of playoff experience

Doogie had said the Wolves are waiting on the outcome of two players before proceeding. The assumption is those are Crawford and Miles. We can check off Crawford. Just waiting on a decision from Miles.
Apparently we want 4 more signings. Crawford makes it 3.

Huh? So we're getting Miles, not Crawford? I'm confused. We're getting BOTH?
