Ricky's shooting after the all-Star Game: 3 PT (37%), FT (89%) and FG (40%). Not too shabby especially given that he is a top 5 defensive point guard and a top 5 passing point guard. Given that we are one more year removed from the injury that plagued Ricky and his endurance should improve which should help offset some of the fourth quarter dropoff he had. Another thing that could help Ricky is that he could rest a little more with Dunn and a second year Tyus. Given the last half trend, a healthier and more rested Ricky who is still working with Penberthy could continue his shooting improvement that he displayed in the second half. I'm expecting that he can replicate the second half with shooting in the range of 39-41 FG%, and 34-38 3PFG% for the year.

I hope so. A better team/coach should put him in better spots.
As for the rest... he only averaged 30.6 mpg last season, the second lowest of his career and below many (most?) sure-fire starters in the NBA. Dunn complicates the minutes allocation if both are here... but I wouldn't want Rubio off the court much more than he already is if we really believe in the on/off splits he's put up for years.

Wow, better than I would have thought. I'd like to see that 40% overall shooting percentage go up, but you're right...those are more than adequate numbers for a top 5 passing and defensive guard.
We've talked about the Wolves' improvement the second half of the year, especially on offense, but a tweet today by Robson really increased my optimism level...and frankly left me rather stunned. After the all-star break, the Wolves made 37.1% of their threes...the only teams better last year were Golden State and San Antonio! Belly 48%, Zach 44%, Wig 41%, Ricky 37%. I had no idea.
The Wolves were a young team learning to play with each other last year, so second half stats are more meaningful to me than full year stats. So, that made me re-examine what our needs are in free agency...I'm thinking now that if the second half of last season wasn't a mirage, we don't need to focus on outside shooting in free agency. Instead, I think we need to focus on defense, and big man depth. Get me Deng and Aldrich, and I'll call that a terrifc off-season.

Ricky was 33/92 the last 11 games.
Youll say, it's not fair to use that sample size. Than I'll say, using the second half of the season isn't fair cuz I have a 5 year sample size that shows me he's not gonna gonna improve much as a shooter.
We can always manipulate certain stats to make some argument. The last 11 games tell me he's still a lousy shooter!

Pork....33/92 over the last 11 games is 36%....Not a great percentage but for Rubio i'll take that. If he hits 36% this upcoming season it'll be good!

Barf. 36% is awful unless it's solely from 3. You do realize 40% is still bad let alone 36%. 28 other PG's in the league shot at least 41% (Lavine was in that list, but I took him out because he's not a PG).
