Blatt fired

Word is Blatt got fired and Lue got promoted. This doesn't surprise me at all because if the Cavs didn't want to lose Lue this offseason they had to promote him at some point.
So...anyone interested in Blatt?

No. How are any NBA guys gonna start "on board" with a guy who didn't have the respect and confidence of one of the best players in the league? Let him go to Phoenix or LA.

Yikes. So James gets to influence coaching decisions beyond just Cleveland.
[Note: Not saying I want Blatt... just saying James' fingerprints are all over the place.]

James is probably the second best player of all-time. Don't you think it's a red flag that he couldn't put up with Blatt for more than 1.5 seasons? He could've dumped Spoelstra, but didn't and Spoelstra was in a very similar situation in terms of being a new and learning NBA coach.

I know I have a positive bias to Lue but like I said before it may have been more about Lue's abilities AND likeliness of leaving that drove Blatt moving on than Blatt not cutting it. I am not sure what I think of Blatt I k ow a few posters here were down on him that summer when he was available.

No. For all we know, Riley might very well have squashed any talk of firing Spoelstra. Who's in charge of the Cavs organization? It certainly isn't anybody with as much clout and respectability as Pat Riley. You better believe that James arrived there with a few conditions in place...
Any claims that James didn't know are pure PR fluff. That's not how the NBA works and that's not how the Cavs have been working.

I thought their offense has looked really interesting. However, I think Lebron has been angling this way for a while. Players league. I think their issues are more personel than coaching. This certainly fits the Lebron as diva narrative.

From David Aldridge via Twitter
The issues in Cleveland with Blatt ran deep and weren't just with LeBron, though James obviously didn't connect with him.

The spin cycle is in full swing. After all, James has a new reality show coming out soon where he helps people. He's a good guy! Honest! Everybody loves him! Really!!!

Yeah this stinks. ESPN has been preempting this talking about his philantrophy and activism for a month. It does all seem calculated and staged like most of the stuff with Lebron. I can't breathe from trying to swallow this one. Maybe Love got him fired though.
