Lorenzo Brown watch

He is putting up some nice numbers in the D-League this year if they keep up it will be the best season he has ever had in pretty much every way you can look at the numbers. I watched his last game which was fun because it also had some other former NBA players on his squad and they faced Jimmer and Greek Freak's brother.
Brown was very comfortable offensively. He was making it look easy whipping passes everywhere and when he wanted to score he was doing that as well. He looked every bit the part of an elite level passing PG. It is no surprise that the Knicks went on a run when he was on the bench and his backup had the worst plus minus of anyone on the team.
Defensively I don't know how good he was most of the game Trice was looking good scoring sometimes easily on midrange jumpers. He had been shooting under 40% from the floor so maybe they were letting him have that shot to a certain extent idk. He was engaged on defense but as we have seen before sometimes it seemed like he could have finished the defensive play stronger. Down the stretch though Brown made a couple big defensive plays including a couple deflections and also came up with a big block on Trice. They did a lot of switching and he was generally all over the place in a good way on defense.
In addition to coming up with some big plays on the defensive end he was money handling the ball late even if they had 2 guys coming at him. He has 12 assists and no turnovers and quite frankly he was probably more impressive than that he was just finding guys for easy looks all night. There were a number of times he was standing wide open for 3 that he should have been passed to and his teammates often took poorer shots.
To me the thing Brown needs is to stick in one place a whole season and get to play as THE PG the whole time or a significant majority of the time a lot of his D league experience has been playing with other combo guys including Brandon Fields who is a teammate of Tyus. Being able to be a PG is his money ticket to playing minutes in the NBA. He can play off the ball too but with his size developing his game at PG is where it's at. If he can hit 3 pointers that will keep him in the league instead of bouncing arpund but that's still a question mark for him. Below are his highlights from the game

Jimmer showed some game but was sorta held in check he shot a poor percentage from the floor.
Dahntey Jones fouled out and his last one was a flagrant foul. Kinda funny kinda sad.
Capers was pretty impressive he was really scoring and had a breakaway dunk that was pretty nice because Brown went up to block him and Capers was too high and it looked like Brown had timed it really well.
It's kinda fun watching some of these d-league games. Sometimes it is ugly but there is some good ball and some good players. It's really going to be fun when it's a true minor league system in the near future.
