If he'd take 95 cents on the dollar, i would buy him out. I wish he would retire already.

Yep. It's that time of year. The old "Pek is working out hard, but won't be ready for camp" reports signals it's almost Basketball season again. At least they signed Hill and Aldrich who along with KAT, Dieng give us plenty of (healthy) bodies to throw out there. I mean no disrespect to Pek and KG. But I wish they'd both just step aside at this point. If you can't play, you can't play - end of story.

Expected nothing more. I bet he can buy plenty of nice suits with that 12 mil though!

He has an agent in his ear telling him "pretend you can play. Don't be stupid"

Interesting info from Jon K in response.

@APkrawczynski When can the Wolves use insurance on Pek contract?

They've used it each of the last few years.

Might as well ride out the next two years of his contract. It's not as if the 15th guy on the roster makes any difference. And the Wolves won't have any cap issues these next two seasons. In fact, Pek's contract will come off the books just in time to free up cap space we will likely need to resign our top young guys -- Wiggins and LaVine followed the next season by KAT.

I'm not too concerned about Pek and his roster spot either. At this point there are 2 benefits of Pek staying on the roster:

1. Depending on how much insurance money comes the wolves way it might make more sense to keep him around and collect those checks even if you have to pay him his money also. I still expect if Pek tries to come back and realizes he just can't do it he will be willing to talk about moving on and will probably will be willing to give up some money also.

2. Pek's contract could be worthwhile in facilitating a deal in the future. I don't really see that happening but every year there is a couple good players available and we didn't see that coming. The reality is sometimes having the right contract is the difference between doing a deal and not doing one. You don't keep Pek around just for that but there is a benefit there.

The bottom line is Pek will likely have no value the next 2 years but all things considered his contract isn't really a significant hindrance right and doesn't look like it will which is quite fortunate.
