They shot 39 3s in their first preseason game. I think between him and Kerr they likely spent a lot of time in the bench in the 90s thinking how they would get themselves more shots if they were the coach.

That's a lot of 3's, but it's dumb not to take them if they are open. Let's hope Mitchell understands that the only thing worse than taking a contested shot with time left on the shot clock is taking an uncontested long 2 when there are 50% more points to be gained by simply taking a step or two back.

Doubtful. The guy was on the staff last year.

True, but he definitely seems to be his own man. When he says things in practice like, "This is how we're doing things this year....", it implies that he didn't agree with how it was done last year. Whether or not that applies to 3's vs long 2's is to be determined.

Eh probably more a show for the cameras. When it comes to being a new and innovative coach, you don't think of Sam Mitchell

True, but shooting 3's versus long 2's is no longer new or innovative. It's a necessity. We played last year with one arm tied behind our back on offense because of Flip's stupidly outdated system. Perhaps Mitchell at least helps us leapfrog to 2006.

Can't wait to pounce on the Thibodeau fanatics when Hoiberg turns out to be the better coach.
