J.J Barea

This guy has been nothing but crap for us this season. I was optimistic about him this season after his strong play internationally, but he is a liability for us at the moment
Can't shoot, can't set up, can't defend. At this stage I would prefer Price or Shved getting his minutes running the second unit. One thing is clear is that he is not doing his job and the whole second unit is suffering because of it.
At this stage I'd like to see us package Barea and Cunningham in return for a proven bench scorer.

His play makes me want to punch myself in the groin.

Did you see Shved play tonight? Have you watched Shved play since the middle of last season? JJ has a pretty lengthy career behind him and has already proven to be a very good rotation player off the bench. His problem this season is that he's generally playing with three or four D-Leaguers. I like AJ Price, but do you really think he'd fair much better playing with the likes of Dieng, Hummel and Dante Cunningham? The Wolves are a mediocre team with a horrible bench. JJ is caught up in that and it's causing him to play way under his norm. JJ isn't the solution, but he's not the problem either. Did you see our starters out there tonight without Love? Martin was our leading scorer, yet he shot less than 33% from the field and hit only 1 of 7 threes. Corey shot 30% from the field and Pekovic shot 38.8% shooting layups. Oh, yes, JJ played very poorly tonight.

JJ's FG% this season is under .400 and his 3 pt% is under .285%. He really sucks this year. Saying that those terrible percentages are not his fault seems absurd. I hope that he plays better moving forward.

I posted this in another thread, but kind of makes you wish we would have kept Burke and just traded JJ away. 12/4/3 in 26 MPG's and getting better is looking a lot better than 8/3/2 in 18 MPG's.

Yeah, JJ is shooting below his career averages and that's just making things even worse for our pathetic bench. I'm hoping he progresses to the mean. The guy is a 35% career 3-point shooter, which isn't great, but it's a lot better than the blanks he's shooting this season.

A few things.
1. So the Wolves are built (somewhat poorly, but still) around one of the 10 best players in the league. That player is out of the lineup, and the Wolves lose by 20 to what might be the best team in the league. Please sky, don't hit me on the way down.
2. I get that people feel more comfortable taking shots at Barea because odds are they are taller than him, but IMO with some sabermetric evidence, Dante Cunningham is having a worse year.
3. Nights like last night once again point out how badly MIN screwed the pooch in the SAC deal. MIN had something SAC wanted, while SAC has/had a bunch of good (Not great. Just good.) players to fill out the bench and no illusions of being a contender.
Last night was an "all hands on deck" night. Unfortunately, some of those hands are not worth having, and not just JJ's.

I said that JJ Barea would be THE reason the Dallas Mavs would lose to the Miami Heat in the Finals. I hated watching him. I didn't like him. For the beginning of that series, I looked prophetic.
He turned it around for a couple of games. And, that's JJ Barea... he can be the worst player... or a real difference maker. You never know.
The problem with the Wolves is that they are using him in a VERY KEY ROLE... where you can't put up with those stinkers and how often they occur.

1. Very funny.
2. There are and have been higher expectations of JJ than Dante. JJ is the only player on the team with championship experience (as well as other reasons)
3. The wolves did well on the trade with Sac by getting a more efficient scorer than we sent them and a much better defender. Atleast we received a player that deserves PT. All knew that D-Will didn't. Sac didn't have any decent scorers that they would have been willing to give up.
JJ is playing farthest below expectations on a team where Love, Rubio, and most of the bench are playing below expectations.

Mbah a Moute is not a scorer by any definition. Scoring almost entirely on bunnies makes being efficient at it quite irrelevant.
It might be a good trade... but it will have nothing to do with Moute's offensive game. He's bad offensively...
