Our starters don't play unreasonable minutes

I've heard a number of people complaining about this, and as opposed to address it in the random threads that it is mention, and move the thread in unintended directions, I decided to start one for the mere sake of addressing MPG for the starters.

That our starters play an unreasonable amount of time is a myth that was created on this board as a reason to hate on Adelman.

Love plays the most and is averaging 35.8 per game. Well below the minutes that he played in Rambis' last year when he was playing 39 mpg. All the other starters play less than that and more than Rubio, who averages 32.6 MPG.

None of our starters are in the top 20 in MPG.

But Adelman doesn't know how to use his bench. So he should play his starters more then.

He's failing on both! I hate that guy!!!!!!

Yup, good fact check. The other myth that gets floated often is that Adelman won't play rookies. Yet we know that Rubio eventually worked his way up to our starting PG as a rookie; Williams started 15 games for us as a rookie; and Shved received major minutes off the bench last year as a rookie. Now we're starting to see Dieng get worked into the rotation little by little, despite being extremely raw.

Thanks for the research Markbu. I'm ok with 35 minutes per starter. Seemed like it was higher. I guess more bench production=more starter rest. Maybe Bazz can be our Shane Battier?

I can't tell if the Battier reference was in jest or not.

Please advise.
