Phoenix. Oh oh.

What the hell? I thought they were a 60-loss club before the season. I was wrong. Obviously.
I thought they would come back to the pack with Bledsoe out. I was wrong. Again?

Consider last night's win. How impressive was it?

- Road game vs. NBA best team.
- Tail end of back-to-back road game.
- 4th road game in 5 days.
- Final game of a long, quick road trip. Classic "scheduled loss" game where even a 3 - 1 record on the trip would have been a success... nope. They went 4 - 0 on the trip.
- 2nd time they beat NBA's best team in 8 days.

Now, Phoenix plays 11 of its next 14 games at home. I can't remember the last time I was this surprised by a team's extended success. If I had a vote, Hornacek would be my runaway winner of COY.

Agreed on Hornacek. Dragic should be in the All-Star game too, hopefully as the next injury replacement.

Memphis and Phoenix are ridiculously hot right now. And wins over Portland and the Clippers this week shows that Golden State isn't likely to go away either. Obviously things can change, but right now it doesn't look very good for the Wolves or Dallas.

Yep, I think we can beat Dallas and Denver, but unless something changes (which is very possible), Memphis and Phoenix look good right now. The worst-case scenario is we lose our top 13-protected pick and miss the playoffs by finishing 9th in the West. Seems probable right now.

It's not even cool that Phoenix is surprising people anymore. At this point, I'm annoyed. They traded Gortat and Scola in the off-season. They dealt Dudley for Bledsoe (good move). They put faith in Gerald Green and the Morris twins. How the hell is this still working?! LOSE ALREADY! Damn it, Hornacek. They got more athletic, younger and hired an up-and-coming stud head coach. I gotta say, I'm a bit jealous. They're doing a lot with nothing and have assetts out the ass.

Don't forget. The Suns have achieved more (with massively different teams) despite having arguably one of the top 5 worst owners in basketball... and definitely one of the cheapest.

Cam -- I feel exactly the same way!

I think it's pretty obvious. They don't have Beasley or Smiling Wes Johnson (The Cooler) anymore.

Don't forget Telfair.

I wish we never would have traded Smiling Wes Johnson to Phoenix. Does anyone believe that he couldn't be doing what Brewer's doing right now? He's not as good as Corey, but the same qualities are there. Hell, Wes is a better athlete than Corey, he's a better shooter (36% 3P) than Corey and it's a toss up whose defense is better. Corey's better in transition, though. I'm not in any way trying to say that I'm not happy with what Corey's produced, but I'd gladly take Wes and our first round pick back. Wes would have been cheaper than Corey too... Per 36, Wes is the better value. Ugh. Damn it Kahn.

*I realize it's not really a Wes or Corey deal, but you get what I'm saying. Value-wise, it's not even close. Wes and that first rounder breaks the scale against Corey.

*Never wanted Wes to begin with. Wanted Cousins. Again, you understand my point.

*Corey's contributed to one of the best starting fives in basketball. Hard for me to be upset with his play over the entire season. That cold stretch was awful, though.
