well the problem with bursitidis actually is that there is an inflammation involved which means that the more you push through the more serious the issue is going to be, maybe up to the point you damage yourself severely, my guess is that he went through some pain but the inflammation wasn't there, but once it appeared it is not about pain level or anything like that anymore and medical staff just shut you down for your own good ..
