Remember when so many from the old ESPN board argued Al Thornton was the superior player to Corey? This thread is for the full-time Brewer backers. Be proud friends.

Been a Brewer fan longer than most! So glad to see him play at this level.

Phenom, You have been a Brewer loyalist from the beginning, and sincerely lamented his loss when he was first traded away. I can't honestly remember if I wanted Thornton over Brewer way back when, but there is no question who has had the better career.

Brew really stepped up tonight and filled in for K-Mart....and then some! Great game.

I'm a big Brew fan... I was just checking his stats, and it's interesting when you look at what he had his last season on the Wolves in '09, they are almost identical:

His impact is far and away greater playing with a talented team than with the scrubs we had then. It is an interesting comparison, shows that numbers do not represent all that a player brings to a team!

What those numbers don't show you is his shooting efficiency, which has been much higher this year than in 09-10. In fact, he is way above his career average in shooting efficiency, especially after tonight. So much so that I honestly don't believe it's sustainable. The run outs are going to start getting scouted and defended better (he'll still get a few, but not as many) and his shooting will regress to the mean. All of that being said, if Martin, Love, and Pekovic stay healthy and productive, we really don't need Brewer to be super efficient. He just needs to focus on defense and getting opportunistic points.

Yep. His shooting efficiency is the real surprise here. A large part of that efficiency is the way that Adelman is using him. As a whole, most of his shots are within 8 ft or corner 3 ptrs. That is where he excels. I credit Adelman for that increase in efficiency far more than I credit Brewer. Brewer will do what he is told, and Adelman is telling him to finish close to the rim and take corner 3s.

As Brewer gets better at following Adelman's direction, his efficiency may increase for a bit. Before too long though, teams will start to learn to defend him better (I am paraphrasing porkchop here) and will start to play to prevent him scoring so efficiently. As teams get better at defending brewer, they will open themselves to other timberwolf offensive weapons.

I am very impressed with how Adelman is training our offense.

And I was a huge fan of picking up brewer, and he is obviously exceeding what anyone on this board thought that he could do.

Won't it be funny when Brewer is viewed, across the league, and a very good starting SF. Who would have thought that might happen?

Not even Flip thought that apparently. Remember it came out that he was looked at to be a spark off the bench? Lol I'm glad we see how Corey is with the first unit. Bud coming off the bench will be much better than Corey I think. Bud will play within himself whereas I think Corey would likely try and be "the man", much like Barea does.
