So atleast 1 other person agrees with me that a trade in the near future is not very likely.

I kind of disagree. I agree it may take a while, but there will be some teams looking to go younger and add "potential". I am thinking Cleveland, Mil and Boston for starters. Guys like Bass, Wallace, C. Lee, Varejao, CJ Miles, Gee, C. Butler. Many of these guys will be shopped...along with a ton more. While Williams doesn't allow us to get a star, he will provide enough intrigue to get these types of veterans that will be a better fit for this team. We need consistent productivity, not stars on our bench.
And before everyone freaks out, I am not saying I want every one of those guys for D-Will. Just saying they are vets that could help, and they will probably be available at some point.
Without some bench additions, I see this team as an early out in the playoffs. This team will eventually have some injuries hit throughout the year, and as of now, we have NO ONE to step into a reserve role as a guarenteed performer.

I don't know the author of that article, markbu, but it sums up my thoughts exactly. I suspect that Derrick has been on the trading block for a long time, and nothing has been offered in return that had more value than his potential. I'm guessing Flip has turned down countless deals from vulture GMs looking to buy low...makes me have more faith in him. It was fun dreaming about Evan Turner, but we just don't have the pieces to pry someone of that caliber away.

Disagree on Turner. Unless the team that trades for him is confident on signing him, his value should be fairly low. He might not be a good fit for us though

It's too bad Boston is too deep at the 3/4 because a D Will for C Lee trade makes sense for where both teams are at. We need a backup 2 who can play some solid defense and Lee is shooting 36% from 3. Not to mention he is familiar with the system. D Will makes pretty much the same amount so it wouldn't be adding that much salary and would fill the need. They are in rebuilding mode and could use more talent, but D Will just doesn't fit on that roster. They need young guards and we really only have Shved which wouldn't be enough to get Lee. The other one I would be interested in is Brandon Rush later in the year when he gets healthy again. He is an expiring that could be a solid backup 2 when he gets healthy and Utah is rebuilding this year.

I don't see us getting much back as long as we continue to bury Derrick's value underground

I think that D-Will has long assisted with that process.

The Wolves have two deadbeat contracts on this team.
Derrick Williams and Shabazz Muhammad. Can they be packaged for a middling player in return that at first glance, seems inferior... but actually might help the team win more games...?
As pointed out elsewhere... Marcus Thornton? (but even that might be unattainable despite him having no real role there in the near future.)
Plus, they have Jason Thompson, but he seems to be in the proverbial doghouse. Could they maybe see something in Williams? You never know with that organization. It's pretty fucked up.

Other than admitting you've never liked him, why do you say Shabazz is a deadbeat? He's 8 games into his career and has been called the hardest worker on the team. Adelman doesn't play rookies early unless forced to (Dieng). Give the guy some time.
