Unleash the Jimmer...

Rumors indicate the Kings would unload Fredette for a 2nd round pick.

Granted, this season is a lost cause. And Fredette is a FA this summer. Is it worth bringing him in for a look? Or, would it just be paying for him to audition for other teams?

The guy can do one thing really really well... shoot. He's shooting 49% on 3s this season in uneven minutes. He's above 40% for his career.

We're still auditioning Budinger, I don't think we have room for more auditions. But if we can somewhow swap out Bud and bring in Jimmer, I would do it. Don't think it makes us better, but Jimmer would be cheaper, yes?

We need another shooter. And with Rubio's size, he can guard 2's and be paired with Jimmer for stretches. Same with Shved. The ability to knock down open 3-pointers continues to be an area of weakness for this team. We're certainly better than last year's historic incompetence in this area, but we need to get better. I think it's worth it at that price.

By the way, a guy like Jimmer would be even more valuable if we were to swap out Budinger for Tony Allen. NBA teams these days need multiple guys that are reliable floor spacers. We have two - Love and Martin. We need another one, especially if Budinger get traded.

Cunningham and 2nd for Jimmer

Think of it like this...

Barea is making nearly $5M with a guaranteed role for a team with playoff aspirations. Fredette can't get off the bench for a woefully inept defensive team in Sacramento team.

Sometimes, the NBA is a funny place.

This is somewhat of a misnomer. They had decided before Halloween they weren't bringing him back, so then it became trying to get experience for McLemore and trying to win with Thornton, which rapidly became shopping Thornton.

He's had a terrific year. But he's not going to be dealt because SAC will not take future money back in the deal because of the Lux issues they'll have this summer. They were hoping against hope that somebody would trade an expiring the same size and a pick for him. So far no takers. But JJ/Jimmer was never going to happen.

The problem with this deal, if you view MIN as a playoff team, is the only backup for Love is now LRMaM, who is rapidly getting pushed into the doghouse, and deservedly so.

At this point, we have to keep Dante for this reason. Luc botched a wide open layup at the rim, while Dante was able to convert one on the fast break with someone in his face. Every basket counts with this team and if Luc is out there taking away Budinger's minutes fine, but right now Dante is our only 4 other than Love, and we desperately need that with our injury situation/problems we're known to have.

To be fair, I never said a Jimmer for Barea trade would happen. I'm just noting that Barea is playing regular minutes... and Fredette isn't.
