What a mess! I feel bad for Silver dealing with this. Deng being in the middle of it. I wonder if this will have any impact on the TV contract as the league deals with another black eye. The good thing is this came out on the same day as the Rice video. Remember when sports was about the game.

Ferry said that Deng "has a little African in him. Not in a bad way, but he's like a guy who would have a nice store out front but sell you counterfeit stuff out of the back." Ferry also referred to his report saying that Deng was "two-faced

If that isn't a racist statement, I don't know what is. One, it makes no damn sense, I have no idea what he's trying to say. Two, what does it have anything to do with basketball? Who cares if Deng was two faced? I would sign him in a heartbeat

Sports have been very odd this week between this and the Ray Rice thing. Nobody is talking about games.

I see nothing racist in the statement whatsoever. Africa is a continent, and has many different races that represent the population. The storefront comment is about being "two-faced". Basically the store owner is selling high priced merchandise to the elite clientele while selling the knockoffs in the back of the store. Ferry gave another example saying Deng would be a source for a story, and then two days later deny it being him.

I don't think this has anything to do with the color of Deng's skin, and everything to do with his character. I think the whole issue was raised because Gearon has an axe to grind.

No it doesn't at all, and likely reinforces it due to Ferry going even further in regard to Deng being two-faced.

This is really rich coming from the guy who participated in the "stop snitching" video, and then was stupid enough to say he didn't know they were filming him.

Do you think Carmelo realizes that Levenson's email was about making Carmelo and the league more money?

Carmelo is a guy who has gone where the money is, just like guys like Doc Rivers, and CP3, who didn't seem to care that Sterling was a racist when they were signing their contracts. Why would players are about Ferry's comments, when they didn't care about Sterling's lengthy history.

When he says it sets Atlanta back, does that mean they are only slightly better than the Knicks?

I thought it was funny too. If they have cap space and can pay the most people are not going to ignore that. The company I work for doesn't have the best reputation, but until it gets worse or someone wants to match my compensation I don't plan on switching jobs.

So why wouldn't he just say he's two-faced? Why throw in the African comment?
