Should we be as concerned about Wiggins handle or hope he moves really well without the ball. Seems to me that playing next to Ricky would mean the latter is much more important.

Pork -- I think Wiggins handle is less important when paired with a PG like Ricky. But as Drew pointed out in the Bulls v Cavs thread, Wiggins' suspect handle will ultimately prevent him from becoming a star unless it improves substantially.

Didn't Ray Allen make a living coming off screens and working feverishly without the ball? I don't ever remember him having great handles.

You are correct, Pork. But Ray Allen was a great 3-point shooter. Moreover, I still don't consider Allen a star.

Lip - Allen was a legitimate star in Seattle. He had multiple seasons around 23+ PPG, 4+ APG, 4+ RPG from the SG position while being a great shooter. The guy has had 7 years in a reduced role after his Seattle days and still has a career 19, 4, 3.5, 45% FG 40% 3pt, 90% FT career line. He was 1 notch below the Kobe class which is still an all-time great level. Sign me up if Wiggins can only have a career path like Allen.

Yes, Allen was a great shooter. But no way he was ever considered a top 5 or even a top 10 player in the League, which is the sort of player some are projecting Wiggins to be down the road. Even at his best, Allen was never in the same strata as Kobe, Durant, LeBron or even Melo, Westbrook or Love. Allen was a great complementary player with one elite skill -- 3-point shooting. If that's all Wiggins becomes, then good for him, but I'd be sorely disappointed.

If Flip pulls the trigger on a Wiggins deal it will be based on his hope and projection that Wiggins will end up at a level significantly above Ray Allen. That's not a knock on Ray Allen. It's the difference between a home run and a double. If Flip is content with a double he'll do the Chicago deal, which will bring in a guy, Doug McDermott, who looks like a future 40% three-point shooter a la Ray Allen. I'm betting that Flip is swinging for the fences - and that's not another Ray Allen.

I think Klay Thompson is a better Ray Allen comp.
